I am in my mid 30s and just beginning my process. On Jan 2, 2013 I bought my first ind stocks converting from 2 Vanguard funds. We would like to create an income stream of $36,000 a year asap to retire. We have to start slow due to earlier decisions relating to money. My family and I are currently paying off all debt and have little left over per month for a few years. At that time we plan on having several hundred per month to invest in more income producers.
