As a long term investor in the closed-end funds and in Gold and Silver, I would recommend not to buy any closed-end fund unless there is atleast 10% discount as an entry point.

Most of the middle class people I know do very little shopping at Walmart. Although the data is interesting, it is just a cycle that the current economy is going through. As we know, in my town of Stuart, Florida most of the people still shop at the Publix, Macy's , JC Penney and other stores. None of my freinds are cutting down on anything. So surveys are ony surveys ---they do not reflect the real world only a certain section of population in certain towns. 95% of people are still employed and living ok.

From all accounts and research it appears that the real estate market will not pick up until 2012 and probably stay at pre 2004 prices. I suggest that we keep this in mind and adapt to the new realty. It is old supply/demand theiry and that eventually always works.
