  • Apple: Please Quit Your Whining [View article]
If you quantitatively scrutinize this talk, it adds up to further declines in all profitability metrics. And phones are definitely not cars, so where is all that financial analysis going? In fact they are closer to technological Kleenex. Check the margins on Kleenex, lotion or no lotion.

  • Great Expectations: The Apple Story [View article]
Carl and Tim suffer from identical cognitive deficiencies, but that is irrelevant, as is the attempt to analyze products, because Lenovo et. al. will destroy the intrinsic margins in this space, end of story.

  • Is Apple's Controlling Nature A Strength? [View article]
Everything people seem to be talking about above is facing the Grim Reaper as far as margins go. Look at 3D printers or cloud enterprise, because this consumer stuff is toast.

  • Lenovo in attack mode on mobile [View news story]
Lenovo has tangible product designs and the flexibility to produce 100 million smart phones at any quality level. With state of the art cellular technology morphing so quickly, a six month product life in North America seems likely, with the best phones being priced as practically disposable. That is simply emerging reality. The word cheap commodity packaged in a more permanent durable outer shell seems to come to mind.

  • Now Is The Time For EUR Shorts [View article]
Also statements like "doing whatever it takes" add immense vulnerability when interior confidence fails. In addition, higher US intermediate rates coupled with stronger than consensus growth are an inexorable force against the EURO.

  • Apple's iPhone Trade-In Program... Desperate Or Brilliant? [View article]
It is strong evidence that aapl and its iphone gravy train are in a bunch of trouble. The cost model to resell these sealed devices is onerous here in the USA. The real worry is that we are on the cusp of a situation where measurably more and more powerful devices will emerge every 5 months. And durability standards, including anti-shock and water resistant features will be essential in the market. Why refurbish obsolescence?

  • Why Apple Could Be One Of The Worst Investments You Could Make Right Now [View article]
I will get it right when I test the product. A finger print reader is a waste of resources, especially if it has any failure rate. The i5 was the first 4G product and sales there were really low for the company market share goals. There is nothing visible in the business plan to deal with shortening product cycles, cheap Indian products in that part of the world, and a growing lack of ecosystem product differentiation. Why doesn't aapl have a 3D printer? Guess they need more R&D capital LOL.

  • Apple's 5C Coming: BlackBerry Better Hurry [View article]
This perspective seems to obviate the fact that virtually all phones are becoming uninteresting, and that margins will evaporate like a cup of water at Death Valley. Cars have a different margin dynamic.

Lenovo cell phones will further pressure AAPL globally. Current margins are frothy given the landscape we will see soon.
