  • Atmel Now An Execution Story [View article]
I have to wonder if it is all about functionality, or marketing? I guess we need an article on the anatomy of a design win.

  • Apple + Beats: Cutting Through The Hype And Negativity [View article]
If this deal reveals the mentality of Apple management, then it looks like they have little idea of how to move the needle.

  • Can Apple Dominate The PC Market Too? [View article]
Yes borrow my kids Macs and start touching the screen for efficiency. This Dell UltraBook SSD and all is so much better and so much more efficient. Mac isn't even interesting. Of course Mac is cheaper, but 2000 is a good price for what I have here.

  • Apple: Yes To iBeats And Yes To Paid Music Streaming [View article]
Ever notice how signal to noise ratio, dynamic range etc. aren't on the Beats box? Well they aren't any good. This is more substance free hype. But that proves Apple is in tune with modern society, and that's mildly bullish for today.

  • The Economic Castle Rating: Superior Than The Moat [View article]
Rivalry among existing firms does not confirm Apple is without risk. The only way to contradict that premise is to overvalue iOS.

  • Apple: Q2 Results Are Not What They Seem [View article]
I'm carrying about the same cash flow from final sales numbers. The China market is becoming a progressively more bloody dogfight and that will presage the environment everywhere. And yes, Apple's self disclosure is a progressively more and more substance free show. Check out the new product intros. like ONE PLUS etc. These devices will have shockingly low prices.

Good luck with that argument with today's fed. prosecutors regarding a company with overseas cash. Also price fixing in the labor market is a big no no.

  • The iPhone Now Accounts For 75% Of Apple's Profit - And It's Actually Good News [View article]
Saying that dependence on one consumer electronics product for 75% of profits is a good thing, especially when the product category will soon be archaic is nothing short of delusional.

  • Has The Apple Fallen? [View article]
The crux of the whole matter will boil down to the incremental value of IOS over Android. There will very soon be no discernible hardware functionality or basic feature advantage for Apple. Then you have the issue of coordinated multi apps within Android that should be based on sophisticated knowledge of the few apps that are actually used heavily. A gazillion apps mean nothing to any specific user, and when you see how few impact most users, there is a big optimal coordinated functionality opportunity. From where I sit, there should very soon exist a situation where there is no possibility of selling a phone much North of 220 bucks, or thereabouts. The One Plus One signals how close we are to that situation. And Lenovo will no doubt offer a highly functional product that will have many companies screaming about predatory pricing. Also, what about running a phone straight out of the cloud? In spite of all this, the bigger issue is that you don't get great performance over a long period of time from mega caps. This is why I see Apple as a butterfly spread vehicle, and that is about it.
