Is BP an Investment or Speculation? [View article]
Sell BP for now. Until they successfully drilled the relief wells, BP's not gonna go anywhere, and rally unless speculators dump other value and better companies such as CVX, TOTAL, COP. Hurricane season most likely gonna prolong and make it longer for BP to complete their relief wells. Till then, BP will bear more costs, increasing amount, and those who claims the damages are overestimated, they will go broke betting on BP. As long as BP doesn't stop the oil spill, the costs will eventually reach a very significant amount, as reflected in the share price.

well written article. is there any way you can explain the negative sentiment around solar sectors? the share prices of solar sectors do not reflect the beat and raise guidances among most solar stocks. would analysts come in and upgrade the whole solar sector? is this solar play undervalued?
Well written thoughts and analysis, Mr Joseph Shaefer. It is indeed an interesting piece of article. Some things to ponder about and if you don't mind explaining or clarifying, as CNBC contributing editor Gary Kaminsky pointed out, that he doesn't understand why most analysts claim that BP is a cheap stock. BP is a cheap stock NOW and is a cheap stock based on the PAST valuation, PAST earnings. But how are you so sure BP will continue to generate such earnings in future? How do you know the future cash flow will not be impacted by the mess in GOM? What valuation models do you think analysts would based on to determine BP is a cheap stock when the future of BP, its future earnings is so uncertain? Uncertain here is defined by the massive clean-up costs, litigation costs, potential criminal lawsuits etc. Would BP still be attractive if they fail to cap the oil spill and the leak prolongs till December? What if the relief well fails considering it's hurricane season, and this may greatly delay or hurt BP's way of capping the leak come August? I sincerely believe the politicians, the traders, the analysts all have got it wrong, wrong to point fingers, wrong to come up with interesting valuations, when the most important thing we should focus on is CAPPING the oil leak. Everyone, every party in the US should work together and unite to solve this problem. PLUG that damn hole!

GLW is a great company, however there's still a big portion of the sales and revenue heavily reliant on tv & pc productions and sales. The growth right now is over at mobile glass. As long as GLW invested more on the mobile computing side, GLW will go very far. Bullish on GLW.
