  • Why You Should Not Buy Netflix [View article]
One of the best reads on this stock on SA. Well laid out with FACTS not feelings.

  • Netflix For The Long Haul [View article]
This is what passes as analysis? Awful. The 2nd paragraph would get you fired at most shops. This stock has issues as a going concern. They owe over 2B THIS Q, and don't have the money. When you add in the rest of their liabilities, they are technically insolvent. One of their biggest problems is how much they spend on delivery. More viewing hours are a BAD thing, not a good thing. This is their biggest variable cost. With the subscription being fixed, can you not see the problem? Has anyone looked at their content lately? Awful. They are expecting marginal contribution margin for new streaming sub adds in excess of 1M subs to hit the low 40s. It's currently at 17%. Is that reasonable? Anyone rating this is a buy needs to look a hell of a lot harder and something known as the "balance sheet" and the author of this article did a very poor job of articulating any reasonable bullish argument.

  • First Solar (FSLR +3.8%) adds to yesterday's gains on news it has won a contract to build a 13MW solar plant for the Dubai Electric and Water Authority. The project is set to be finished by Oct. '13, and could pave the way for future deals: Dubai has begun work on a solar park it hopes will eventually produce 1GW of electricity. [View news story]
Are you seriously comparing Schwab to Gordon Johnson? Amazing. Instead of bashing Johnson, you should consider his record on that stock/sector which has been the best of anyone. His analysis has been second to none and if you had listened to him you would have made a bundle instead of whining about him "attacking" a company that makes mediocre products.

  • The only question raised by Annaly's (NLY) repurchase plan is "what took the board so long?" With shares trading below book value and $100B+ of MBS on its books (much of it trading above par), the company just sold high-priced assets, cut its prepayment exposure by $1.5B, and used the funds to pick up cheap shares. [View news story]
Tells me the Fed is crowding them out. Farrell raised a ton of capital this year and now they can't use it, so he's "giving it back". Great response from the stock. I've owned it for over a decade now and have no intention of selling it shy of the world coming to an end.

  • Nattering Nabobs Of Netflix Negativism, Revisited [View article]
Mahaney has been telling people to buy this dog for the last 80pts down too. This one has curious timing as I believe a large capital raise for NFLX is near. Is he trying to position Citi for the business?? His note this morning was replete with confirmation bias.

  • Research In Motion: It's BlackBerry 10 Or Bust! [View article]
What it is is accurate. I was surprised to see the author caught the changes in NWC and Inventories to goose the cash position. RIMM continues to be a sinking ship. Sometime the truth is in your face.

  • Is Netflix Dead, Once And For All? [View article]
Why don't you try reading the balance sheet and you'll see it for yourself. If they don't have the cash to cover the expenses due to cover content and distribution costs then where do you think the money is going to come from? The sky? So many people on this site are amazingly uninformed and then fly around casting aspersions at people who actually do research. Amazing.

  • Is Netflix Dead, Once And For All? [View article]
They will have to raise well over 1B, probably 1.5B...soon. I wouldn't buy anything knowing that's coming to hit me in the face. The fact remains that their model is broken and they are competing against bigger, wealthier, and more entrenched companies and none of that is good for NFLX. This company is in deep trouble.

  • Shares of Under Armour (UA +2.8%) and Nike (NKE +2.5%) run higher on enthusiasm that's been stirred up in part by a positive note from Stifel Nicolaus on Nike's sales trends. Momentum traders seem convinced the breakout is a sign of things to come for the pair of stocks. [View news story]
UA has a cash crunch coming for those of you that haven't been looking at their balance sheet. Share dilution is coming.

  • Dramatic Decoupling Of U.S. Stocks From Global Equities To End [View article]
James is still the only contributor worth reading on this site. The macro is rather obvious at this point. Ignore his commentary at your own risk.

  • Chesapeake Energy (CHK -6.5%) is sliding on heavy volume. Reuters reports the SEC's Texas office has been demanding documents from Chesapeake as part of the agency's probe into the company's deals with CEO Aubrey McClendon. Meanwhile, Baker Hughes (BHI +9.4% - previous) reports the rig count for U.S. natural gas wells has fallen to 518 thanks to weak prices. That figure is down 45% from October's high, and represents a 13-year low.  [View news story]
I agree with you, but the funding gap is still HUGE and who knows what they end up uncovering? I think this is a no touch until there's a lot more clarity or until McClendon gets the boot.

  • GE has halted the build-out of a Colorado thin-film solar plant it announced last October for 18 months, and is reportedly laying off employees. GE had promised to invest $600M in the plant, meant to represent its return as a major solar manufacturer, but bleak industry conditions apparently made the company delay its plans. The halt is a positive for thin-film rival First Solar (FSLR), which has had an ugly 2012.  [View news story]
Unless FSLR can fix their tech problems it won't matter much. Just look at what happened last Q. They have real issues.

It's been 20minutes since the release...come on RIMM bulls. Where are the clowns who have attacked me for several months over this dog? Schadenfreude at its best right here.
