  • Why MannKind's Afrezza Will Succeed Where Pfizer Failed [View article]
@ kingsmill: what are your thoughts regarding any PFTs that have to be performed - if required for Mannkind's inhaled insulin? If I recall correctly, the pulm data for Exubera only went out two years. And again, if I recall correctly, the lung function data tapered off at the close of those two years (it stayed the same initially, but then started to trail downward)... what does this mean in terms of the LT effects of (an) inhaled insulin on one's lung functioning? Are (any) untoward effects reversible once established? I know not enough about the pulm vasculature and regenerative rates in that type of tissue. When I promoted Exubera, however, this fact was ALWAYS in the back of my mind - and, quite honestly, it didn't make me sleep well at night (although I was a pharma rep, I did and do still have morals!).

  • Strategies For Dealing With A Possible Market Meltdown [View article]
Mr. Draft Mule, you are the easiest-to-understand cat on this site.
(this really needs to be your new handle... that is hilarious!). As a future DGI investor, I'm still trying to wrap my noggin' around how it all works and this piece (for me, at least... and I'm a bit of a slow learner) is perfect. I have a few weeks off from school and will enjoy printing and re-reading your previous articles.

You have a way with words... making (those) things that are difficult very easy to understand. Thank you again for taking the time to compose these articles - and keep them coming. You'll make me a rich man one of these days!

  • 2 Biotechs Primed For Prosperity In 2013 [View article]
Great write-up - I've been wondering when someone associated with SA would give this company a good review. I'm in at $6 and change and enjoying the ride. At one time I had company-issued options at strike prices of between $2.50 - $3.00/share that I had to sell to help pay for school :-(

A few reasons for my getting back into the stock: the management (from the ever-so-humble CEO to the director of HR), their product accessibility on formularies and, of course, their products. The PAR litigation helped, and SNTS is due many dollars from this debacle (I was laid off as a direct result of this litigation). SNTS is a fairly-conservative company, too... unlike other "large pharma" companies with whom I have been employed.

The largest reason for my re-entry, however, was Uceris. Treatment for ulcerative colitis is a BILLION dollar market. If SNTS is able to garner a mere 5% of this market - heck 3% - it's good news - and I believe they're on their way to doing so.

Aside from Uceris, Glumetza is a cash-cow for SNTS. It drastically cuts down on the rates of diarrhea, which leads to increased compliance among diabetics. Once MDs use it - based on affordability and accessibility - it's hard to use anything else. I used to hear this over and over in the offices I frequented while promoting the product.

I expect to see mid-to-high 20s (if not higher) on this stock in the near future.

everything about SNTS is good. when (not if) a company of this size claims their piece of the multi-billion-dollar ulcerative colitis market, the sky's the limit.
