So this is a strategy only insofar as management says that it is a strategy. My issue is that it fails to define a customer base, and defining a customer base is essential to any successful retail operation. Don't you think that Apple execs are acutely aware that they are trying to serve people who: (1) have some disposable income, and (2) are not that computer savvy? This is why they have been successful. I don't see that with JCP. To me the so-called strategy is just empty platitudes.

I never meant this to be "conspiratorial" although I have nothing against conspiracy theories: a lot of them turn out to be true. For a lot of these reasons to avoid GLD my point is that these conspiracy theories are out there, and even if you don't believe them, you shouldn't categorically dismiss them. Even if there is only a 1% chance that they are true why expose yourself to that risk unnecessarily when there are other options such as GTU.

I think a couple of the more seemingly conspiratorial points that I make are simply common sense. For example, the manager of the GLD doesn't own GLD. Why would you want to invest with somebody who doesn't have his or her money at stake along side you.

You should take a look at my instablog on silver manipulation

http://seekingalpha.co...

SA rejected this as well.

In it I argue that the silver manipulation thesis is circumstantial, but that the circumstantial evidence is too strong to ignore.
