  • Why We Need A Little Amazon Right This Very Minute [View article]
    MarketLost, touche:

"I haven't heard biz speak like this since I left IBM. Perhaps, you could throw in something like "uses big data analytics to drill down to dscover new consumer trends", that would be the cherry on top."

In truth, Amazon "uses big data analytics to drill down to" optimize: dynamic pricing, inventory ready to ship, staffing levels in fulfillment centers, negotiated shipping contracts, and so on.

In truth, almost all living humans have enough food to survive, lodging, public education, dreams of a better life. The sad truth is war and terrorism and failed states are holding back those left out.

  • AWS Spinoff Could Drive Amazon's Resurrection [View article]
Amazon is a technology company monetizing its investments through retail markets. AWS is a core Amazon business. AWS brings Amazon in contact with most startup companies across all industries.

Amazon is secretly building other hardware.

Amazon does big data analytics, including intelligent UIs and personal task assistants and recommender systems.

  • Why We Need A Little Amazon Right This Very Minute [View article]
Amazon is diversified into many synergistic business lines, leveraging today's and tomorrow's Internet.

Is Amazon the Information Age? Or, is the Information Age Amazon?

Recently, I have read two different articles. One predicts 2 billion additional new Internet users in 2 years. The other predicts 5 billion additional new Internet users in 5 years.

  • Why Amazon Is Expanding Original Content To The Big Screen [View article]
Gary, Amazon Studios is the official brand. Bezos is busy as ever, Amazon'ing competitors. Here are some key strategies:

    1) Amazon gets a ton of free advertising doing this.
    2) Amazon gets many new Amazon Prime members doing this.
    3) Amazon gets negotiating advantages, including walking away from too greedy content owners.
    4) Amazon widens their intangible assets moat based on its brand recognition and loyalty.
    5) Amazon widens its economies of scale moat based on new revenue streams using pre-existing AWS and Internet bandwidth CAPEX and OPEX.
    6) Amazon changes the viewing habits of late adopter broadcast and cable viewers, to an on demand, subscription or rental media model.
    7) Amazon evolves its business model to become the stickiest retailer around, including search for products & services & media.
    8) Amazon gets a strategic advantage when selling Amazon media consumption devices like tv, tablet, phone, and e-reader.

I estimate that AMZN just went up. I have previously watched several Amazon Prime tv series over the past two years.

rrose39, why does SA continually give MB a soapbox from which he dissembles?

I judge MB articles to be disinformation. I do not read MB articles because to do so increases his click count.

  • What Microsoft Investors Should Look For At The Windows 10 Event [View article]
The story of Microsoft is the same story as cavemen. One day Ogg makes a club and the clan follow Ogg. Then, one day Mogg makes a spear and the clan follow Mogg. U get it.

Here is a link to Windows 10 on quicksand with weighed down by clubs, spears, and more garbage:

  • Dear Apple: Ericsson Wants More Money From Its Patents [View article]
Net takeaway is Apple wants to disprove the validity of Ericsson' LTE patents for Apple devices.

Meanwhile, Ericsson wants an East Texas court to rubber stamp the legality of its purported FRAND tollbooth on all things LTE, ignoring the irrelevance of its huge pile of patents. Big pile, many purchased patents, too many pages for a judge or jury to actually read or comprehend. Big equals FRAND $'s. QED.

More likely rotating out to have cash and then rotating into better positions.

In my lists, this pattern explains almost all today's price changes.

I am treating this behavior as a shift for 2015.

  • The Long Case For Alibaba Group [View article]
User, I have done that with consistent success. Buy the deep dips. When it hits $400, sell it. Wait for the next deep dip to buy again.

There is little downside risk because Amazon is growing fast and has several global business models and constantly does "little experiments" to discover new market opportunities. Is Amazon a "defensive stock" in 2015?
