  • How Does Amazon Tie Publishers To Its Network And Grow Its Competitive Moat? [View article]
I need to add some details to this insightful article, because I too make a living as a publisher and have some experience. Not only Amazon gets a huge amount of traffic from affiliates (associates), but also not always registers the sales they make and doesn't pay them the commissions they deserve. So, one can easily end up diverting traffic by tens of thousands readers monthly and get nothing in return. The conversion rate is minor and much discounted by Amazon, which I think works perfect for the company, but not for the publishers.
I tried to bring some facts up to Amazon's attention, but their staff is reluctant to accept and even does not approve negative comments on the professional networks.

  • Silver's (SLV -0.6%) 9% plunge in the first minutes of trading overnight is being linked to hawkish talk from Japanese Economy Minister Akira Amari who warned the yen's (FXY +0.7%) fast decline may be hurting the economy. One fails to see the connection but dollar/yen did dive along with silver and Andrew Wilkinson suggests hedge funds short the yen were forced to raise cash by bailing on stale silver longs.  [View news story]
It was a great profit opportunity for the one who watched closely and participated in the trades.

It looks rather greenish on my screen right now, with a day high of $23.24 so far and firmly in the green territory. In my humble opinion, silver bottomed out.
