  • Call Me Crazy, But I Think Chesapeake Energy Has Turned Over A New Leaf [View article]
Totally agree. I have not gone near this investment because of AM. I will not go near it as long as he has anything to do with the company. As far as I am concerned he is a crook. Its hard enough to be a passive investor, its 100 times harder when the CEO is looking to screw you at every turn. I have learned that a tiger does not and cannot change his stripes. Good luck to Southeastern and Icahn.

Thanks for the feedback. 9 hours, Wow!! There is certainly interest in any report you can provide. I believe the company can and will benefit from the secular trend of increased infrastructure spending in the emerging markets, as evidenced by continued increase in there backlog of business. A chief concern: mgt continues not to own a meaningful % of shares, and nor are they buying at these current lower levels. Was that issue discussed at all at the meeting?? Also, has the company reaped any benefits from the relationship with our 20%+ Chinese partner?? As you might remember the price and method in which this ownership position was established seemed to severely dilute existing shareholders, and the transaction itself was very opague.

    Thanks.

It has been reported that Michael has been appointed Chairman of KHD. Have you heard and verified this??? Why would Michael want devote any part of his time to KHD and not devote full time to MFC??

    Thanks.

Einhorn recently announced that he was shorting iron ore prices. Given the fact that the wabash mine principally supports our dividend, do you think that 1) there is in fact an oversupply of iron ore coupled with a global slowdown, and 2) will a lower iron ore price jeopardize our dividend and drive our share price lower.

    Thanks.

Dr. Scholl, any thoughts on the Compton purchase. It seems like we bought these assets on the cheap.

According to Mr. Gupta at Blue Earth, you need to be a shareholder of Blue Earth to receive any financial information. MFC shareholders are not entitled to any info.

Dr. Scholl are you a Blue Earth shareholder??? If so will you be requesting 2007 to 2011 financial data to assess where the $21mil went??

    Thanks.

Would anyone know more about the recent $28mil purchase of the Kasese Cobalt Company Limited from Blue Earth. I originally thought MFC was purchasing Blue Earth but when I requested financials from the company to try to assess what exactly MFC bought I was told that Kasese was bought and not Blue Earth, so financials were not forthcoming.
Secondly, I have heard in several places that MFC is very close to buying Decometals, a what seems to be supply chain company based in Vienna which also maintains shareholdings in mining and production companies to ensure optimal purchasing power.
    Thanks.

  • That didn't take long. Massachusetts Sec. of the Commonwealth William Galvin slams Bank of America's (BAC +2.3%) consideration of new fee structures on its checking accounts, and proposes a law barring banks from holding state deposits if they don't offer basic checking without fees. Expect to hear soon from the new Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. (also)  [View news story]
You agree with Durbin??? Thats fine, you have the ability to go to a different bank if you are not satisfied. But for that JERK to say that the bank has no business charging fees is idiotic, socialist, pandering to an ignorant element of the public, Un-American, anti-freedom, and "anti" anything that has to do with free enterprise. He is a POS along with that prick in Massachusetts.

  • Italy And Spain Launch Frontal Assault On German Austerity [View article]
In the past when a country was in crisis, when its credit rating was downgraded, when its economy was in recession, when unemployment was high, their currency would then weaken thereby encouraging exports, tourism etc., and the rebooting process would began. What in God's name is holding the Euro up??? Is a country like China manipulating the Euro to keep its exports up??? What gives??

The BS is over. Pain is now the name of the game. The more Pain people suffer as restitution for their past idiocies, the more apt they are not to repeat these idiotic socialist policies. I say let the countries default, lets have a self correcting global recession, and most important: a lot of pain. I am ready for it. I have plenty of Cash in addition to some strategic investments which I will not sell but add to. I have no debt, my real estate is fully paid, so bring on the BAD times.

  • Iconic Reagan-era economist Arthur Laffer pops up to provide guidance to Kansas lawmakers - telling them (no surprise) they should keep cutting taxes to find prosperity. Laffer unleashed: "If you tax people who work and you give money to people who don’t work; do I need to say the next sentence? Don’t be surprised if you find a lot of people not working."  [View news story]
Duh!!!!!!!! Why is this such a hard concept for Americans to understand. I will tell you why. Because a lot of Americans are no longer like my immigrant father and grandfather. They were ashamed and embarassed to take gov't welfare and worked hard to avoid the shame. Today its no longer shameful to be a deadbeat, lazy, POS, lowlife, welfare recipient. In fact many Americans aspire to be on the gov't dole. It is a shameful testiment to the way the American moral character has deteriorated. Obama plays on this deterioration as do liberals generally. This election will determine whether or not America continues down the path of welfare and socialism, and failure.
