  • What's Tesla Going To Do With $750 Million? [View article]
how about buy that EV maker, Better Place, that just went bankrupt at the end of last week, including their battery switch tech and all of their charging stations, even if the charging stations are only good for Tesla in that they already are built (property, basic infrastructure in place, etc)

obviously I don't understand all of the incompatibilities between Tesla's charging tech vs what Better Place was using, but who knows?...

plus the way EMusk kept delaying the announcement kind of lends itself to it being contingent on another party's decision (to declare bankruptcy) which would be on their timetable, not his

    obviously wild speculation...

  • Supercharger: The Next Catalyst For Tesla? [View article]
I don't think I'd put money on it, but isn't it curious timing to have "Better Place" declare bankruptcy right before the twice delayed supercharger announcement week? How impossible is it that behind the scenes, there has been a negotiation to take over that infrastructure from them, considering also that the battery switchout method is something Musk is interested in...? Even if the charging equipment itself wasn't immediately usuable because of the incompatible tech, each station would already be constructed and existing, which I would imagine cuts down on what it takes to when doing a fast-paced roll out of a station network. Just saying - curious timing.

  • 3D Systems (DDD) and Stratasys (SSYS) both catch downgrades from William Bair in a note titled "Waiting for Expectations to Align With Reality." Neither firm, says Bair, appears well-positioned to be the leader of a "3rd industrial revolution ... many investors are buying shares of these two companies, at least in part, for the wrong reasons." Both are off 1.5-2% in the premarket. [View news story]
the link goes to his twitter post, but the post doesn't include the rest of the explanation - anyone have access to the article that the rest of the SA post pulls quotes from?

  • Time Short For Tesla Shorts? [View article]
personally I appreciate John Petersen's input - being long TSLA right before their earnings announcement, I think what he contributes to the debate is still valuable, even when I don't come to the same conclusions - if everyone on SA was pro-TSLA, I'd be a bit skeptical...

  • The 3 Tesla Secrets [View article]
very very interesting... lots of speculation on future events but it's one of the more plausible tangents I've seen put out there

"At least owning (or shorting) Tesla is more exciting than watching grass (or dividends) grow. Hopefully Tesla investors got a good rest over the weekend." very true for me - I've got enough invested long to make it sting if it tanks while not so much that I'll jump out of building - it is engrossing to keep up with the company and ceo so you're spot on about that...

  • Water ETFs: The Next Commodity? [View article]
Great article Tom. Are you familiar with the Water Asset Management entity? I believe they may be a mutual fund. Is the key difference between the ETFs you mention vs this Water Asset Management is that they purchase water rights? How would classify Water Asset Management? I can't find too much info on them, much less a symbol. Their site puts most of its information behind the login so I'm unable to find much more. Thanks
