  • An End To Our Relationship With Yahoo, A New Era For Equity Research [View article]
Really? How could you rely on investing advice from a website called Yahoo!? My money is too important to rely on a website called Yahoo! for realistic advice. It is bad enough that a website called Motley Fool gets my attention. Investing takes serious insight, not cat's play. I have always gone straight to SA without the middleman. What do you take me for, a Yahoo?!

  • Can Bank Of America Trade At $40 In A Couple Of Years? [View article]
This feline bought BAC, in the single digits, when folks thought it was worthless kitty litter. See you at $40, when the fat-cat dividends make BAC a blue-chip again. I will be selling at $50. Meow!

  • The Great Squeeze Play [View article]

There is a very misleading figure in this article. This figure is used to make the point that corporate profits "skyrocket" while incomes "collapse."

    Not so fast.

The axis that displays corporate income begins at zero but the income axis covers a very narrow range. Notice how corporate profits have had very wide swings but incomes have remained fairly stable despite the way that these have been drawn? The real conclusion is that typical home life in the US has been a smooth ride but investors have been on a roller coaster.

Another point: Corporations are required by law to disclose plans for major layoffs but there are no disclosures required when they go on hiring binges. In other words, you only read about the bad HALF of the hiring data.

  • More than half of bond ETFs saw price price declines greater than their drop in NAV last month, according to Morningstar. The MUB's 3.1% fall compares to a 1.3% dip in NAV - not peanuts considering the fund's 2.8% annual yield. Similar patterns were seen in other muni funds like CXA and ITM as well as in junk bond ETFs like HYG, but was not evident in TIPS (TIP) trackers or broad fixed-income ETFs like AGG and BND. [View news story]
Some bond closed end mutual funds (remember these?!) are selling at more than10% discounts to their NAV.

  • Why I'm Tendering My Shares Of Pfizer In Exchange For Zoetis [View article]
Why did I buy PFE? Low P/E. Large and growing dividend. But ZTS is none of these things. So, will I tender my PFE shares? Probably not.

  • Asset Allocation And Rebalancing Review [View article]
Yes, re-balance, but total assets in US stocks should always be much larger than the % that you invest in some of these other classes. Emerging market bonds, indeed!
