Whip Inflation With Preferred Stocks [View article]
Check out MS PRA...... Another libor preferred, trading above $20 per share and will adjust up after 3 month libor hits a minimum level. 5% cy.... Another thought, would MS pra and other libor preferreds be consider capital under basel III ? If not, my guess these might get called away from you at par??? Any takers on that thought?
Solve your problems and buy preferred's tied to 3 month Libor. BAC<STD<STI< all have choices,,, maybe get a hair better than 4% now with a nice bit of upside assuming interest and lending sparks over time. Just another way not to fill the pinch of rising rates.
Sounds drastic!! You must be calling Dow 1000. Joe, since you will be wiping out shareholders and appointed new directors, should we assume you would provide reorganization financing? Should you throw in a firing squad? Maybe lethal injection? Somethin with teeth!!
12 Charts That Scream New Global Panic [View article]
On July 2, S and P research warned of an upcoming "black swan event" that will shock global financial system. Their reco was to pair positions into strength in the coming weeks and months. This piece was released on S and P's broker workstations, that are used primarily FAs and brokers. I was surprised to see such a release from S and P. Usually don't stick their necks out too far.
BP has many mistakes to account for and will all in due time. An important piece of information that 98% of Americans do not know is Anadarko owns 35% of the well. While damages are large and will grow, BP will share with APC.. Wall street is well aware of APC's stake but the "Joe Six Pack's" of the world who now despise BP have never heard of APC
Very nice article. The author of the most recent article from Rueters probably needs to extend proper attribution. A death, aging founders, and a very valuable enterprise are all the makings for a buyout. Look at the business DRQ is in and the competition. FMC and CAM are those listed on yahoo finance. DRQ are deep water specialists and PBR will be drilling in the deepest waters to bring oil to the world. Without a buyout DRQ still looks good.
The above article has some date to it however another article surfaced today via Reuters news feeds with some of the similar information. Very interesting and I look forward to learning more about DRQ.

Try quantumonline.com for a wealth of information on preferreds and other income securities such as exchange traded debt. Wealth of information at zero cost. Preferreds are used widely for yield alternatives but did not hold up well during "crisis". Preferreds offer nice yield, very little upside at current levels. Keep an eye on LIBOR indexed preferreds if you feel 3 month LIBOR will rise over next few years.
Felix, Did any company make a bid for Merck as their Vioxx problem hit? What about MO several years ago during tobacco lit settlement? BP is pregnant with triplets right now and not getting a lot of looks from suitors.
Fannie and Freddie have more debt than Greece,Spain and Portugal combined, as a Biriyni research piece pointed out earlier this week. Of course the implied backing of US Gov't is keeping bond holders quite but who wants to be holding the Roman candle when the match is lit?
