  • Prana Biotechnology And MannKind Corp.: Bad News Obeys Its Own Special Laws [View article]
@Madmedman - while I agree with your points (I think), spelling, grammar, and fact checking should be used prior to posting! It would take you all of 2 seconds to bring up the Mannkind web site and see that the inhaler (dreamboat) looks like a whistle and is ORAL, NOT nasal!!!
    Disclosure - long $MNKD

  • Netflix pay dispute with carriers leads to slower streaming [View news story]
@Paulo - cable companies have geographic monopolies sanctioned by the local municipality. Combine that with barrier to entry - municipalities will not allow every Tom, Dick, and Harry to put a wire in the ground - and you have a corrupt system perpetuated by a corrupt FCC.
When behemoths such as Verizon and Comcast sign agreements not to compete with each other, how do you say that the end consumer is somehow benefiting from the cartels actions? And how is it we would be free to build our own?

@ Keith: Agreed, and not necessarily in that order.

  • A Few Great Reasons Why This $5.67 Stock Is An Excellent Buy [View article]
What do you think the fair value is for $RFMD? I have held it for quite a while and have a very low cost-basis. I am wondering if I should continue to hold or put the capital to work elsewhere.

  • The Net Neutrality Monster Has A Close Relative [View article]
The last time Netflix raised their prices, they lost about 3.4% of their customers. Today that would translate to about 1.2 million subscribers , or about a loss of $9.6 million per month. Is that nothing to sneeze at?
I, for one, would drop my subscription, but I rarely use it as it is. The same holds true for Amazon Prime, if they go through with their price hike.
Mobile providers are doing the opposite, having a price war. I believe more consumers are expecting the same, or more, for less $ per month. When the perception is the same for more $ per month, I think many will say "no thank you".

  • Hatteras continues big move following Kain purchase [View news story]
@div - thanks for the reply. I wouldn't mind if it does become a de facto mREIT ETF, I am long AGNC. I do wonder about the tax consequences of the strategy, if there are any. I also think Mr. Kain is being wise and I am looking for a successful outcome to his strategy.

  • More on Regeneron Q4: Net profit -79%; sees Eylea growth [View news story]
@too - let me help you with that - libel: the act of publishing a false statement that causes people to have a bad opinion of someone.

I have seen your statements on numerous SA articles praising (pumping) $ACTC. I have NOT seen you disclose whether you have a position in $ACTC. If you do not have a position, you should disclose that (as I did regarding $REGN and $ACTC previously).

  • Neostem Could Rally On Phase II Results [View article]
I have to say - the BEST comments I have read on SA so far! Maybe not for investment advice, but the entertainment value was priceless! Literally LOL.

@too - Way to pump a penny stock. One patient with one outcome is not anywhere close to the standard needed for FDA approval.
Disclosure - I have no positions in $REGN nor $ACTC but $REGN came on to my radar when looking at companies with T1D solutions.

  • Can Cisco Rebound This Week And Where Is The Market Headed? [View article]
Goal: Please keep up the fact checking. I appreciate readers who hold the contributors to the facts and do not allow them to get away with blowing smoke.
Perhaps it is a function of the stocks that I follow, but I have seen quite a few SA articles published that are less than intellectually honest.

As for $CSCO, I hope it does rally so I can finally get out.

  • Clean Energy Fuels' LNG Strategy Is Crumbling [View article]
"Upside, a Seeking Alpha contributor, caused quite a stir some days ago with his article titled "Sharks Are Closing-In on Clean Energy Fuels". It was not surprising, albeit disappointing, that most people went off the deep end and accused the author of being a basher and a despicable shorter, when all he had done was write an article filled with links to recent data points that support his belief. No point in shooting the messenger if you disagree with the message. I wish people who found his article (or any other article for that matter) so hard to swallow, would take the time to do their own comprehensive research and produce articles where they set out to prove him wrong, and thereby help us all become more enlightened investors."
"Upside" aka Mr. Shorty wrote an article to drive share price in his favor. He admitted in the article he was shorting the stock and he threw fuel on the fire to drive the share price lower. You are being disingenuous with your faux "shock" at the reaction of SA readers. Are you in collusion with upside to further your short scam? Perhaps the SEC should pay both of you a visit...

  • Russia deal helps Clean Energy Fuels rebound from yesterday's 14% loss [View news story]
I suppose Mr. Shorty posting on this site to drive down a 900 M market cap company proves the power of the Internet (and the fickle nature of the market). If investors had read the comments rebutting the article rather than just the headline, I doubt Mr. Shorty would have made his 14%.
I took it as a buying opportunity. Time will tell if that was a wise move. Long CLNE.

  • Kain buying stock of other mREITs [View news story]
To those stating Kain is not acting in the interest of shareholders - In a separate article (here on SA), Kain explained he is selling at 100 % of value and buying at 80% (20% discount). How would that NOT be in shareholders' interest? Also, AGNC buybacks were $600 mil, and other mREIT purchases totaled $400 mil. This seems like due diligence to me - good luck with that frivolous lawsuit.

  • All eyes on Amazon Prime [View news story]
Magellan - you are wrong. I expect at least 50% drop in prime subscription if they raise 20$ or more. You admit you aren't even an AP member. How would you have insight into those of us who are?
