  • Hope for Windows Phone in W. Europe, SE Asia? [View news story]
The US folks never liked Nokia. Here in Belgium I do see more and more lumias. Last week I was at a party with some girls, they were taking photos at night with their Iphones. I took some with my lumia, let them use it to tag themselves on facebook and send it to facebook and they were amazed. They looked at their iphones as a piece of junk.

I'll give it some more time. But my feeling is is that lumia its share is certainly growing in Belgium.

Not the universities are sad, but students who judge others because of their phone ;-)

That's a sad university you teach at then. No way you're 'out' if you still have a symbian or whatever over here.

Received my first Lumia today. I will recommend it over Android, IOS to everyone.
Also the Nokia build quality is superb. My Samsung is a joke next to it, even if it was in the same price class when i bought it.

Yes of course, but it's not like you see a lot of promotion for Nokia around here. If you'd ask 10 random people what the 520 is I guess maybe 1 could answer it. People need to know that there's much more value for their money than a 2 year old Android. If Microsoft and Nokia would launch a global marketing campaign, the sales would be much higher. Heck, give me a Nokia t-shirt and I'll promote them for free!

I sure tell my friends about it, some like it, some really don't, I guess they'll just have to wait until they see my new 720!

I think the numbers of 27% could be much higher if marketing was done better. I went to a store today here in Belgium, the 920 and 820 were displayed. Since the 520 was released this week, it wasn't even displayed and was just laying in a shelf under the displayed phones. Same with the 720. Then i hear customers saying 'i want a good camera on my phone'.

You know what the seller said? Take sony, they're good as they also make cameras. Seriously, I really wanted to get the 520 out of the box, display it and take the sellers job.
I'm still long on Nokia, but I really hope we'll get some good news on July the 18th!

I fully agree Systembolaget! Look at the quality of life, bbp per capita and education and Scandinavia is always on top!

  • Is There An Easy Solution To Nokia's Problems? [View article]
As where the customers are coming from: I know I can't generalize, but 3 of my friends owning a Samsung smartphone are sick and tired of the build quality of Samsung. They still know Nokia as 'indestructible' and will buy a Lumia as next smartphone.

  • Dump Nokia's Sad Ringtone, Buy BlackBerry [View article]
What I think this article doesn't focus on is that Blackberry doesn't focus on the cheaper smartphones and first time smartphone buyers. Nokia does. With the launch of the 521/620 and even 720 I think that Nokia has a much broader public.
With an excellent top device for every US carrier, I can see Nokia doing much better in the US than previous quarter.

Adding the Asha 501 with free facebook for the developing world, and you get a different picture.
Also, you simply ignore that Nokia is much more than only phones. What about NSN or Navteq, why don't you talk about those in your articles?

Nokia is late with the 521 and 620. But now that they have a top device for all us carriers and have also covered the lower market, I can see them selling well.

  • New Lumia Ad: Outrageous But Brilliant At The Same Time [View article]
Might be the case for you guys in the USA, but for lots of students-including myself- a mac is just to expensive for what it is. Why buy a 1200€ mac when my €320 microsoft laptop can do all the things i want to do?

I like the add, it just represents how things are: people are looking at either iphone or android, nothing else. They should open their eyes and see that there's more!

  • Nokia's Revival: The Ship Has Sailed [View article]
Well, I just read yesterday that the 2nd batch in Shangai was sold out in 2 hours. The yellow one even in 20 minuts. Or Nokia has not enough supply, or this phone is amazingly popular. And I can see why.
