    I'll assume they will use tankers from Ceyhan and use the Suez to transport the crude to India. A long round about way (8000 miles), but if security is priority, it beats Afghanistan and Pakistan, not to mention the topography to get to India through those two countries with a pipeline.

    I would agree that if security of energy is the intent then the Kaz-India doesn't really qualify. Correct me if I'm wrong, but hasn't ONGC Videsh secured part ownership (albeit small <3%) of the BTI pipeline that runs through Turkey to the Mediterranean?

    Something tells me that the contact details with ONGC Videsh would show it is binding assuming the government approvals are granted and preemption rights not exercised. I doubt that the Indian company would want the possibility of a bidding war to occur with a SOE, or otherwise, after signing.

    Kazakhstan has more to lose than gain if it shows favoritism towards the PRC for any future developments.
