3 Biotechs, 3 Big Pharma Plays for the Coming Generics Boom [View article]
What a difference three months make! ISIS has 20 drugs and plenty of money now. A real turnaround story worthy of mention. Nov.10th, A great article, although pre-mature, but never the less a sensational stock it is. I felt the same way about ISIS two years ago, and couldn't understand why a T.V. personality suggested on the air to sell 'ISIS' and buy 'NSTK'(NOW MRNA). TALK ABOUT EGG ON HIS FACE. THAT'S WHAT I TOLD HIM BACK THEN, AND WHERE IS 'MRNA' TODAY, ABOUT $1DOLLAR. SEEKINGALPHA, DOES HAVE THE BEST WRITERS FOR INVESTORS, AND INVESTORS SHOULD NEVER EVER DEPEND ON T.V.PERSONALITIES OR THE FRIENDLY RESEARCH FIRMS WHO FOLLOW THE COMPANY. THEY GIVE CHRONIC 'BUY' SIGNALS AND HIGH TARGET PRICES THAT NEVER COME CLOSE. AND YET THEY DO NOT REVISE THEIR CALLS EITHER. THIS IS MY OPINION!
15 Possible Healthcare Breakout Stocks [View article]
VERY GOOD ARTICLE! I noticed you left out a stock that has had more news announcements than a half dozen stocks in the last 8 weeks. FDA approval, completion of new issuance of $10 million dollars, paying off a loan recently, got full control over its gene technology, and the stock os only $1.56. The stock is 'MRNA'. SHAREHOLDERS BELIEVE IT WILL BE ANOTHER 'SIRNA'. In my opinion, since they are a PRE-CLINICAL DEVELOPMENT company, they need to contain their expenses more, get some earnings, and maybe in 2-3-4 years then re-evaluate this stock. What is your perspective Mr.Hickey?

Biotech Dip: Sector Weakness, or Buying Opportunity? [View article]
MRNA-UPDATE, I CALLED FOR A DOWNTREND WHEN STOCK HIT $.93 CENTS ON APRIL 17TH. NO REASON FOR BEING THIS HIGH REGARDLESS OF TWO PARTNERING DEALS RECENTLY MADE. MAY5TH, 2008-18 DAYS LATER CLOSED AT $.70 CENTS TODAY, AND AFTER MARKET IS NOW AT $.69 CENTS. DOWN OVER 24% FROM ITS HIGH ON APRIL 17TH, CONFIRMING 'DOWNTREND'.
Biotech Dip: Sector Weakness, or Buying Opportunity? [View article]
03/12/09 MDRNA INC(MRNA) I DON'T THINK IT IS A BUYING OPPORTUNITY IN THE CASE OF 'MRNA'. REASON:De-Listed by NASDAQ notification! Difficult to borrow anymore money, but that is a good thing since they have high debt anyway. With no improved earnings in sight, the Burn Rate will continue to rage making it difficult to exist much longer. Since the details of a one time payment were not disclosed by MRNA /ROCHE, it is hard to say what amount they will receive in the near future. So if MRNA announced this week that they are paying rent and their vendors by issuing stock, then the 3 million shares issued will be immediately sold in the market in the coming days ahead. And based on the average shares traded, this should significantly lower the stock price while next week the Year End Earnings report comes out and that news won't help the stock price either. (FUNNY, HOW THE ONLY WAY INVESTORS OR POTENTIAL INVESTORS GET TO READ ANYTHING ABOUT 'MRNA' ON THIS SITE, IS BECAUSE I HAVE BEEN COVERING IT FOR THE PAST 2 YEARS) OTHERWISE IT IS NEVER MENTIONED AT ALL. AND SINCE SO MANY INVESTORS LOST HUNDRED OF MILLIONS, INCLUDING FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS, IT IS ONLY BEFITTING THAT I KEEP IT RIGHT UNDER THE MICROSCOPE FOR ALL TO SEE AND READ!
After Thursday's Bloodbath, Is Biopharma a Buy? [View article]
GOOD ARTICLE MIKE. IF ANALYSTS KNEW WHAT THEY WERE DOING LATELY IT WOULD BE AMAZING. IT'S OVER DONE, YET WE ARE IN A DEPRESSION. STOCK HAVE GONE DOWN TO MUCH, BUT DOW IS SIGNALING FURTHER TURMOIL AHEAD. EVEN JAN.6TH CRAMER WAS BULLISH ON THE DOW,THEN 9,100, TODAY 7,062. RESEARCH ANALYSTS, STAR MINE EXPERTS ARE ALL SCRATCHING THEIR HEADS. WHY, BECAUSE WE ARE IN A DISASTER MODE THAT WILL NOT BE FIXED BY STIMULUS 1,2,3, OR 4. AND IT IS GOING TO GET WORSE. THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM IN AMERICA RIGHT NOW AND THE COLLATERAL DAMAGE HAS TO FINISH ITS COURSE OF DESTRUCTION BEFORE A PROPER ASSESSMENT CAN BE MADE ONCE AGAIN.
Looking at Last Week's Weakness, and What It Could Mean [View article]
Great article! Before it is over and done with, the majority of investors must see and hear the 'ALL CLEAR' alert. This is just like a forest fire out of control, and it will take some months of burning out before anyone returns in great numbers. Many investors have been burned already, so the confidence level is currently shattered. Quality companies will still be the foremost considered when investors start returning, like JNJ, MSFT,GRMN,FAST,NPK, and MKTAY, especially during a recession. Some of the biotech companies are interesting at these new levels, but some need to go bankrupt because they do not belong on the exchange any longer. They have cost shareholders huge amounts of losses, and some do not even have any products, but have huge debt, no sales growth, and investors have watched the stock drop between 85-95% in value over the past 12 months. They continue to offer HYPED news releases while management still gets paid and receive bonuses. They need to be weeded out and the research firms that follow and tout them too.
'When There's Blood in the Streets', Buy Biotech Stocks [View article]
Ohad Hammer, I admire your guts and position. Jim Cramer has now done a 360 and advising people to sell everything, after hitting the buy, buy, buy bottom for years, and you are informing others about history and for people to consider biotechs now. But part of history is the depression to consider. At a time when global markets are plunging, I do not believe this is safe advice to publish. We are in a beginning stages of a global depression which will take years to possibly recuperate from. So investors are better off for now to hold onto their money, and use it for survival. It is bad out there and we are making new history Mr.Hammer.
FANTASTIC ARTICLE! Good job. Of course not all bloomed nicely. There are always some weeds and the SEC should be the ones who pull them out. Example, 'MRNA'. There has been so much damage to investors to date, that management ought not to be able to continue to pay themselves & exist for another 5,10, or 20 years. A total injustice to all!

Peregrine Pharmaceuticals May Be On To Something [View article]
10/01/07 Enjoyed your article re:pphm, amgn, and dna but before the weekend was over I saw a video by Jim Cramer and the title was 'AVOID AMGN'. Although he had Feuerstein in the video and was trying to get him to agree to avoid amgn, Feuerstein did say he thought amgn did bottom. Also that it may make a news announcement in January about a potential new block buster drug. But Cramer played it down and wants investors to avoid it. Having said that, do you think Cramer is right to avoid AMGN or is his power getting to his head lately. Thanks Ohad! JIMMY T>
Profiting from the Cyclical Nature of Biotech Stocks [View article]
Your article is right on. Although the market has been in a tizzy of late and there are many unknown probabilities, potential recession, and so forth you assessment happens to be accurate. Having said that, in following biotech stocks, one in particular does tend to rise during sept.,oct.,and november, that's nastech pharmaceutical. However, just as it always seems to go up during this time frame, it always seems to go down systematically in December, january, and february like clock work! Of course the smart ones know to get out before the year end earnings report surfaces! Thank you Dan for an informative report, keep up the good work! IFF
Happy To Have Sold 'Value Trap' Amgen [View article]
Dear Mike Goodson, I commend you for stating what you did and to make a new stance although you loved the stock. It's not easy when you own a company like amgn and feel your in the right stock with all its potential besides. As you said it was a value trap and just looking at that 5 year chart I can fully understand. Which brings me to 'nstk' with a similar chart for 5 years(about the same value consistently), except this is not a stock of the same level. But when recent statements that nastech has potential in three areas being, Autism, Obesity, and Rnai, it raised a red flag to me. I found other companies way ahead of 'nstk' in all three areas, so maybe it's more Hype than reality. There ahead by years and later phases too. nstk is in the early stages so they are probably 5-15 years away, which makes me wonder as a shareholder that maybe this is a 'Value Trap' too. What's your perspective Mike, Jimmy T

Do you think that investors should ignore your story regarding risks and returns when a stock is hyped by a T.V.personality like Cramer regarding 'NSTK'? Because the stock artificailly moves up regardless of fundamentals,ratings,p... earnings, risk and reward. Once its touted by a creditable T.V personality its all aboard regardless what experts say. Right?
