I've been a rabid saver from the age of ten or twelve. I had IRAs before graduating high school and even loaned money to my parents before graduating college. I was educated as a Civil Engineer and I am extremely analytical. Computers and computer languages fascinate me. For fun and relaxation, I learned and wrote programs in a dozen different languages. While working at my old day job of bidding on or managing large construction projects, like dams or highways, these programs just helped me or my subordinates do our jobs. Overcoming challenges on a large variety of construction projects was a lot of fun for me, but by the time I was 39, my retirement savings were paying me far more than my regular job and could afford me the opportunity of staying home with my wife to help raise our kids. I still write computer programs to help me analyze and invest in stocks.
