  • All Hail The Dividend King. Should You Swear Allegiance With A Buy? [View article]
    Richard,

Thanks for the breakdown into it's simplest terms, which are interest rates and portfolio risk. Even I can understand this.

However, for me, it's even simpler; a 22% dividend is too good to be true, and everyone knows the corollary which follows. It's simple common sense that it is not sustainable.

I respect Western Management a lot and hold one of their CEFs, but WMC is one to be avoided, for me, anyway.

  • Should We Want Stock Prices To Go Up Or Go Down? [View article]
    Eddie,

Good article, based on common sense.

Flies in the face of some DGI or DRI authors who feel that price on good companies doesn't matter, that "it's all about the income", and dismiss people who feel differently as market timer wannabees.

  • Intel: Dude, Where's My Dividend Increase? [View article]
    Ashrad,

Regarding the insulting critics; "illegitimi non carborundum".

For every one of those, there are scores of us who appreciate your INTC update articles.

    Thanks

  • Intel: When To Expect The Next Dividend Hike [View article]
INTC has been a good stock for me thus far. Have enjoyed some capital appreciation and a steady dividend over 4% at my c.b. I'm not especially worried about their prospects-they aren't going anywhere and will adapt to the new technology.

However, I do agree with some of the others who have chided them for their lack of candor. I intend to contact Investor Relations and ask them for a clarification, and encourage the other critics (who actually own the stock) to do so as well.

  • A Global Market Rotation Strategy With An Annual Performance Of 41.4% Since 2003 [View article]
    Frank,

Nice first article......lot to absorb, have bookmarked it for further study.

I've spent a good deal of time in Switzerland (tourist, not expat), using Zurich ($) as a base from which to explore the rest of the country. Need to spend more time in the south, however, Lugano, etc....

    Thanks.

  • Building A Winning High Yield Portfolio [View article]
    Arie,

    KFN is very interesting.

The bad news? EPS record has been spotty as well as dividends, which were slashed in '09.

Good news is that currently the stock has a nice dividend, low payout ratio, good EPS, FCF covers the dividend, no debt (as you mention) and the stock trades a bit below book value.

I have some cash to deploy, and this is one to consider. Maintenance requirements might be on the high side, though. No SWAN, this one.

Kinder was the only one at the top at Enron with any ethics. Worked out for him that he didn't get the Big Job, because he escaped with his ethics intact.

When I was in army basic training (horses, muskets, etc.) every time we'd screw up, our sergeant would yell, "You guys are trying to think again"!

Same goes for investing. KISS and stay the course.

    Thanks.
