    Jimmy,

Ooooooh, vapid! Let me run to my Thesaurus! Actually I prefer to think of my comment as insipid, thank you very much.

Oh, and BTW your contribution was about as blank as your bio.

Great minds must think alike. I've been sniffing around both ACG and PSEC for a while now. People always like reinforcement for their own views!

Actually, I've given pause to ACG because of the leverage you mention and because it's lately underearned the dividend. However, Morningstar rates it Gold and says "Despite the fund's high leverage ration compared with peers, it's overall risk in in line with the peer group."

And, don't forget, the.58% expense ratio lovers the distribution to under 5%

    Quinn,

Is that you, or a picture of Buddy Holly? I think the latter.

    Quinn,

You look like Buddy Holly, the old time teen throb in the 50's.

    I know, who's Buddy Holly?

  • Jim Chanos - a bell-ringer in 2009 when he said there was nothing left to short - says there's plenty to keep his firm busy now. Avoid leveraged natural gas companies "like the plague," he says. Their balance sheets may look okay thanks to perverse accounting rules, but cash flows tell a different story. "It's a pretty good bet" he's short any leveraged players that were buying gas properties 5 years ago and looking to sell now. [View news story]
I would listen to Chanos. He was right once, probably is again. Unless you think he's a one hit wonder, like Joe Granville.

Good article. You laid the facts on the table in a dispassionate manner, which is appreciated.

    Thanks and Merry Christmas.

How about a Merry CHRISTMAS? It's the reason for the season after all.

We're all so secular nowadays. Don't want to offend anyone, after all.

I'm of your generation, also with military service. I like your reasoning.

I've a feeling RS is either short INTC or long on puts.

  • Linn Energy LLC: Time To Get Bullish For 2013 And Beyond [View article]
Buy LNCO. It was created by LINE. It owns units of LINE. It has no other function.

It pays dividends, not distributions, and reports them on a 1099, so you don't have the K-1 hassles. Also, it is totally suitable for tax deferred accounts.

  • My Retirement Income Quarterly Review - The Final Wrap Up [View article]
I think you are correct, martinfrosa. TCAP's payout ratio is 91% (SA), which is about where it should be. Add to that nice dividend increases since '07. Only problem now is that eps is near it's 52 wk high. An entry point for me would be around 22.

They are officially known as a Small Business Investment Company (SBIC).

    Thanks,

  • It's Triple Witching Friday [View article]
    barley,

"From a UK perspective", you have to understand that to Obama, "co-operate" means "do it my way". He's more interested in taxing and spending for his legacy than in the long term financial health of the country.

He is unwilling to give any ground at all and meet the Republicans in the middle.

Seems that, "from a UK perspective", there's plenty to comment negatively about on your continent before reaching across the Pond. Get your own house in order first.
