Dunno. This company has about as many problem issues as there are; financial, environmental, management, model, business conditions, etc.
I'm into value investing, but to me that implies a company fundamentally decent but unappreciated because of product, sector, etc. RIG doesn't seem to have that criteria , and neither the current share price nor the dividend are compelling enough to take the plunge.
Do you think the dividend is sustainable in view of all the problems and their negative earnings? Doing a quick analysis, it looks like the cash flow, after capital costs, is sufficient. For now, anyway.

LITH LEG,
Since D4L doesn't seem to be answering queries, here's a snapshot.
In 2012, ABT will split into two companies. One will be pharma, the other medical devices. Not sure about symbols yet.
ABT stockholders will receive equal shares to what they hold in both new companies, divided by two, of course. It's anticipated that the dividends of each will equal the current dividend..
For further info, suggest you go to the company website, or access any of the financial webs, such as this one, ww.marketwatch.com, or any others and keyword the symbol.

Parsimony,
Very good article on 7 Dividend Stocks Retirees Should Consider.
I did add to my ABT position on the last big dip down in the mid 40s in August and bought my original shares before that, around 45. It's nice to see the capital gains in addition to the dividend, but I have no plans to trade in and out of this or any stock.

RS
I think the medical products and otc health stuff spinoff will be the very successful one. Pharma will hold it's own.
Both will trade separately, no? If that's correct, the former will be the growth stock. Latter will be like ABT is now. It will be interesting to see about the dividends for each.

Timely article, as I was taking a look at XOM as well.
Another I now like is BA. There's been an awful lot of good news for them lately, from both the sales and political front. Thoughts?
Thanks!

Great article, as usual. Written in plain English, without a lot of technobabble.
For me T is a little rich-too near it's yearly high-without good reason, in my opinion.
I'm pretty much with you on NLY & JNJ, however. Would like to see a little dip to pick up some more shares of each.

Glad you're weighing in to bring some order to this anti-O frenzy from donkegen and kaptain_lou.
I'm long on O and enjoy the dividend checks. Stability and safety? Look at the track record over time. Want more, once it dips again.

Based on performance, your judgement on these companies is certainly confirmed.
What's your take on the ABT split? I think the medical products entity will be the growth engine and pharma doing, well, what pharma does.
