  • The Market Is Advancing: Is It Time To Sell? [View article]
All one has to do is to look back to find out what happens when markets hit a top. They eventually drop, sometimes drastically and precipitously.

And, no, it probably isn't different this time either.

David's portfolio makes a lot of sense for all weather type investing.

  • American Capital Agency: Negative Catalysts Portend A Dividend Cut [View article]
I think everyone understands that the spreads are shrinking, and we've seen dividend cuts from just about all of the agency mREITS. These are not SWAN investments.

So, even if AGNC cuts the dividend by a buck, it would still be around 13% which is not too shabby. And any potential dilution of the share price to between 29-31 would make that percentage higher for new investors.

I'm watchfully comfortable with my AGNC position--for now.

Well, like father like daughter. Warren's all in, along with Obama, for raising taxes, too. Remember his idiotic statement about his secretary paying more to the govt. than he?

    Alex,

Could be. Right now it seems to be drifting down with oil generally.

No, not missing the point at all. Just commenting on how philosophies can be tailored to fit different circumstances. I think it's called hypocrisy.

  • Charlie Munger Built His Fortune By Seeking Income First, Capital Gains Later [View article]
Yeah, Charlie sought income first to get personally rich, but doesn't offer any for either Berkshire common or preferred. I guess we're supposed to buy the stock because it's such a great privilege.

    Avi,

Great article. I agree with your assessment. Sadly, fully invested now...no excess funds to deploy.

They had a couple of environmental issues--one in Michigan, I believe. Do you have any updated info on those?

  • 2 MLPs For Yield Above 7% [View article]
On the other hand, I think EEP is an excellent choice. Avi Morris has also has an excellent article on the company today. And the price is currently pretty favorable. If I had funds to deploy, I'd be a buyer.

A couple of environmental issues are pending, but that's par for the course for all these pipline outfits.

    Thanks,

  • REIT Dividends Are Like Snowballs: All You Need Is Wet Snow And A Long Hill [View article]
    Brad,

I watched the MNR CEO interview with Cramer a couple of weeks ago. Guy was unusually forthright for a corporate executive, even if he didn't say what investors wanted to hear about raising dividends.

If they run their business the same way, MNR is a good one to own, on a pullback, natch.

Could you comment on the affiliated company, whose name escapes me now? Believe they make manufactured housing and they are struggling. The 10K or some other document warned about the symbiotic nature between the two.
