  • A Global Market Rotation Strategy With An Annual Performance Of 41.4% Since 2003 [View article]
    Frank,

Nice first article......lot to absorb, have bookmarked it for further study.

I've spent a good deal of time in Switzerland (tourist, not expat), using Zurich ($) as a base from which to explore the rest of the country. Need to spend more time in the south, however, Lugano, etc....

    Thanks.

  • Building A Winning High Yield Portfolio [View article]
    Arie,

    KFN is very interesting.

The bad news? EPS record has been spotty as well as dividends, which were slashed in '09.

Good news is that currently the stock has a nice dividend, low payout ratio, good EPS, FCF covers the dividend, no debt (as you mention) and the stock trades a bit below book value.

I have some cash to deploy, and this is one to consider. Maintenance requirements might be on the high side, though. No SWAN, this one.

Kinder was the only one at the top at Enron with any ethics. Worked out for him that he didn't get the Big Job, because he escaped with his ethics intact.

When I was in army basic training (horses, muskets, etc.) every time we'd screw up, our sergeant would yell, "You guys are trying to think again"!

Same goes for investing. KISS and stay the course.

    Thanks.

    Ray,

You've a very subtle way of expressing your opinions, which flies over the heads of most, I think.

Well, everyone is excoriating this author for writing a negative article about NLY and also being short on the stock.

Yet, readers seem to love it when an author pens a positive article about an equity and holds a long position.

At least this author has a consistent history of negativity towards mREITs in general and backs it up with his money. Should we expect him to be negative on a stock and also be long in it?

Not to be unkind, but the author only has 85 followers and I doubt that he's moving too many markets.

  • Equity CEFs: Terrific Opportunity In A Duff & Phelps Utility Fund [View article]
    Doug,

Thanks for another great CEF article. I like the fact the DPG is diversified internationally, but in developed countries only.

Basic and very dumb question. Are the CEF distribution yields quoted before or net of expenses? Never sure when researching if I should be subtracting the expenses from the yield.

    Thanks.

    alsch.....

I agree about GE. They are the Exelon of their industry; over-promising and under-delivering. And, like Exelon, their management, at least since Welch, has a propensity for making the wrong move at the wrong time.
