    Clever.

Makes me long for the old Thumbs Down button SA used to have years ago.

Nice "get" on O @ $33. I was feeling pretty smug being long @ $38!

  • Exxon statement says U.S. needs to adjust energy policies [View news story]
Exxon's comments make sense, which is why the tone deaf ideologues in D.C. will never adopt any of them.

  • Can You Profit From Prisons? [View article]
I wonder if those of you who have insisted on taking this thread to non-financial irrelevance realize that all you've done is line Brad's pockets? He gets paid per "page turn", you see.

Oh well, maybe you can claim him as a dependent.

Better yet, take it to a social or political site. Nobody here cares about your political or philosophical persuasions.

  • VYM: Challenging The 'Boring' In The Dividend Investing Narrative [View article]
    Noah,

    Couldn't agree more about VYM.

Can't really figure out why VIG gets all the positive ink when it comes to DGI. Just compare the two.

  • Why I Bought Realty Income - A Layman's View [View article]
O is a great company, however I think that, even at ~$49, it's overvalued by $10 or so.

If one must establish an initial position now, I'd recommend keeping some bux in reserve to nibble on the way down, which is certain to happen.

Wofford? Sounds like a name for an English sheep dog.

Of course O wins. They always win.

Went long on KMI @ $31.75, which just proves that even a blind squirrel finds an acorn now and then.

    John,

I read the book as well. Besides not getting the big job, Kinder was beginning to smell rats anyway. While this wasn't the primary reason for leaving, his timing was exquisite. He was one of the few who got out with an intact reputation, not to mention staying out of the graybar hotel.

  • Cliffs Bonds: Thoughts On Tender Decision [View article]
The question should be, why would anybody want to purchase anything relevant to CLF? I wouldn't think that even bottom feeders swim that low.

  • The Dividend Aristocrats: Create Your Own Portfolio Or Invest In NOBL? (Part 2) [View article]
I couldn't tell whether the author was promoting NOBL or just giving us '"for instance" information.

If the former, it's hard to get excited about an ETF yielding 1.59%, no matter how it's justified in terms of cost of potential trades during a certain period of time.

In any event, the analogy is a little far fetched because I don't know too many retail investors who are trading/rebalancing their portfolios 216 times per year (54 x 4 using David's arithmetic) And besides, why would you want to do that to achieve a yield of under 2%?

VYM is a much better invesment, with an expense ratio of .10% (that's a tenth of a percent, folks), 1/5 NOBL's. The VYM dividend is ~ 2.72% as well, nearly half again higher than NOBL.

Actually, all of the quality utes have been "high flying". And many of them sport higher p/e ratios than WR.

Very complete article covering all the bases without being mind numbing.

Is OHI internally or externally managed? I thought the latter, but not sure.
