If China's Economy Doesn't Collapse, Beaten-Up Shares Of Cliffs Natural Could Rally [View article]
FB,
Thanks for the very detailed analysis of CLF's problems. This is probably why the beta of this company is over 2, in addition to it's cyclical business nature.
I still think it's a worthwhile buy under $40. Maybe closer to $30 :-)
J.P. Morgan's Tom Lee and his equity research group tab 12 favorite stocks they believe could outperform in coming months, are less likely to be "consensus" buys, and with short interests of 4.7% of float or higher: X, AA, TIE, CLF, MU, AMD, SRCL, CTAS, FFIV, MCHP, WM, HRS. [View news story]
Whitehawk,
What would consider a bottom? I think CLF is a buy under 40. Too bad nobody comes out and rings a bell to let us know.

Thanks for the clarification. Yes, Western is a first class operation bolstered by the Legg Mason umbrella. I own HIO, which had been a problem until they were taken over by WAMCO years ago, who stabilized them.

Thus far, your non-constructive comments in this thread have made no sense whatsoever, coming out of the woodwork to disagree just for the sake of being disagreeable.

Make An Executive Decision - Buy HSII [View article]
Paul,
A very nice article on a company in the executive headhunter industry about which I know little, except for having been occasionally contacted by them in my previous life.
It would make sense that firms like this would have very low debt, because they don't have large capital outlays in facilities to manufacture "things", provide tangible goods, or make money by leverage.
In doing a little research, I thought it was interesting that HSII keeps a retainer fee regardless of whether or not they find a suitable job candidate. Kind of like lawyers.
Given their business, companies like this will always cycle with the economy, hence the volatility.
If I were younger and bolder, I'd buy in, but don't need the excitement at this stage. Maybe if the dividend was a little stronger.................
Enjoy all your articles and started following when you stood up to the NLY cheerleaders and their Zealot-In-Chief, as did I, but to a much lesser extent.

Yes, LINE is growing quickly, and so is the EPS. Shoulda, Coulda, Woulda bought it six months ago, but didn't . Now not going to chase it upwards. Shame, too, it is a great company.

I think CLF is a buy under 40 and plan to initiate a position if/when it happens.

Their EPS growth has been lagging, however. All in all, a nice dividend stock at a good price.

Sure I trust GM--about as far as I could throw one of their crummy still-unreliable vehicles.

Good point. Wouldn't want to be catching any falling knives, however.
Glass is half empty for me on this one, I guess.

This makes WMC all the more interesting. I already own the HIO cef with which I'm very happy.
Like to see a pps pullback, before I jump in, however. Don't want to catch that FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) bug and buy at a top.
Could you clarify the n/a EPS?
