  • What Is Going On At Intel? [View article]
I take it the executive life expectancy of the leader of this group can be expressed in days and not weeks.

"OIA loss: the Other Intel Architecture group has lost an aggregate of $3.8 billion on $8.4 billion of revenue for 2012 and 2013."

    @Buy and Hold -

I have to amend your quote below:

"just as there are no bad dogs, only bad dog owners, there are no bad or dangerous stock markets, only bad or foolish stock investors."

There may be no bad dogs, but I have had a good one take a shyte on my bed.

  • Worried About Not Being Worried [View article]
Loved this piece IT - great title and point. I do think bonds are at a short to medium term disadvantage relative to equities because the Fed is dead set on keeping the ZIR culture come hell or high water. They may not have an exit strategy, but that may just be because they do not want to exit the strategy. I just do not see any move from the Fed until inflation is pounding the door down, and the door is even expensive.

@Artful Dodger - I agree - the market has really been rewarding for me personally. But there are things that just really make me nervous:

    1. I would love to have the capability to put my money in 4+% zero risk investments like other times in my life. They don't exist.
    2. I just cannot foresee in my lifetime (getting close to retirement) the USA pulling together to tackle its fiscal woes and opportunities. Not going to point fingers or go political. But can anyone ever see us taking a step to actually lower the debt?

  • ConocoPhillips: Will Dividend Growth Accelerate? [View article]
    @ David Booth -
I agree on your point that the divvy % increase may disappoint - but will take a little issue with the categorization that the asset sales just simply fuel the divvy payout.

The asset sales were part of a well communicated strategy to shed non core assets, and was part of an overall strategy that included the PSX spin off. That is what I like about this leadership team - they tell you what they are going to do and then they actually do it. Good luck investing and perma bull COP until I look up and see dirt.

I wouldn't sweat the details on the % increase - the key thing is this company is dedicated to his shareholders, and increasing their value. My money is on the leadership team to create value. We are sitting quibbling about pennies, when a couple of years ago I had just under 1,000 shares of COP. Instead of a divvy increase, they maintained the divvy and gave me almost 500 shares of PSX. The original shares are now higher than preseplit COP and those spinoff shares of PSX? They were issued at prox $29 and 2 years later are over $82. That was a helluva move for their shareholders and was a game changer for me personally. If you have some $ - put it in COP and sleep soundly.

  • Despite The Bad Press, JPMorgan's Dividend Prospects Look Bright [View article]
JPM is a nice hedge from an uptick on the interest rates. I was reading they gain like a bazillion dollars for each half point increase in the rates.

A market built on the foundation of zero interest rates. I have zero other options, so I continue to invest in this Alice in Wonderland Market.

What are you attacking Mr. Blair for? He gives his opinion very clearly and for free. If you don't like it - don't read it - but why chime in just to insult?

What I love about being an INTC shareholder is I can read articles that say INTC is going to conquer mobile and articles that say they are completely doomed in mobile on the same day.

  • GM adds to record recall tally with another 218K [View news story]
    @ Ray -
"General Motors may not be liable pre-bankruptcy failures." You are absolutely right, they are likely not liable and likely would be protected under the bankruptcy agreement. If they play that card, the POTUS will likely be looking at a veto proof congress in November. Even with our electorate, I do not think they will tolerate "saving GM with bankruptcy" after you can keep your healthcare, Dr etc etc. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice - shame on me. Do not want to get overly political on SA - but the reality is the optics on this one will prevent GM from making that claim.

You are being too kind to Ms. Barra. She was part and parcel to this whole thing, or GM was not including data, success stories, from their vehicles into the design and development group. Not sure which is worse.

Wouldn't it be easier if they just issued a notice for the cars they are not recalling?
