  • Apple Update: Short Interest Hits 2014 Low [View article]
    @doc47 -
As INTC shareholder I personally have concluded the short interest does have a huge impact over the short term performance of a stock. Every little shred of unfavorable news gets pounded, the stock seems almost tethered. I agree with you that over time the short interest means little, but I do think you will see a decline of short interest before a stock takes off.

  • An Open Call To Apple Bears For Debate [View article]
Meh. Blair got Apple wrong and INTC right. Basically like all of us - some hits some misses. I do hate to see over the top criticism of a SA Contributors when they clearly state their positions and rationale. (Kofi - not implying your piece is over the top).

Maybe the $350 number is after the split?

I guess I see both sides. How is that for a strong statement? On one hand, AAPL has created an unbelievable APP business that gets them billions of revenues at incredible margins. They continue to be a great bet on what the future holds, as they are still a top company on the innovation side.

But what gets me about AAPL is that the market keeps expecting exponential growth and because that is no longer there it just creates a huge AAPL "short" kind of sentiment. Losing share is a big deal, and that to me creates enough risk to stay away from AAPL in the short term.

  • Apple's Buyback: Here Come The Critics [View article]
If people want to criticize a company that builds a healthy balance sheet, then uses cash to retire stock after a dip, with the cost of capital of a share of stock so much higher than the cost of cash - they will literally criticize anything.

Timing a buy after bad news is easier than not creating and communicating bad news. Have a great weekend AE - some good stuff this week.

  • Doubling Down On Apple [View article]
I agree Brent - but if he wins his bet on INTC will give him a huge hat tip.

  • Intel And Apple: An Interesting Tidbit [View article]
I personally appreciate the efforts of the folks that present both the bull and bear case for INTC. I think it is important not to get so invested in a stock that we only appreciate the echo chamber that supports our position. The other thing is the repartee generates a host of comments from people that know the stuff - and I learn a boatload from these efforts. Thanks to all.

  • Apple's Most Innovative Products Have Intel Inside [View article]
I am with you there. I remember their last earnings report. Was like growth rate of 18%, OP way up, and oh by the way the stock drops like 4% in one day. So does this management team really have to keep a growth rate of 20% to maintain its stock value? Just a ridiculous amount of pressure on Apple.

  • Apple: It's Time To Move On [View article]
    Couple of points:
    1. Can't believe some of the personal attacks in this comment section. As far as I know, free speech and opinion is still a valued principle. If you don't like it, don't read it, or don't follow the advice.
    2. I am not sure APPL is dead either, but you have to admit that they have lost like 40% of their stock value during a bull run. Certainly there are concerns by other folks that you may respect more.

  • Apple Dumped ARM's Designs In iPhone And iPad, But Nobody Noticed [View article]
I think the only chip company that INTC could buy without a fight from the current administration is Lays.
