  • Square IPO: Strongly Consider An Allocation [View article]
Picked wrong timing to go public. I think folks will better be rewarded by waiting out.. look at recent IPO darlings that are licking their going public wounds.. By the way one would be better by buying Paypal the leader in online payments.

  • Carl Icahn Is Wrong, Apple Is Not Worth $240 Today [View article]
I made money by siding with Icahn more often than not.. I still think Apple is one of the safest stocks with good potential for world disrupting technologies impacting new industries. I think Apple should buy Tesla. Tesla's business model is similar to Apples with focus on superior product, attention to details, vertical integration to give great experiences and get unfiltered instant customer feedback etc.. So IF Apple can get Tesla under it's wings then you have a great Car which Apple can add to innovations in car entertainment with Apple eco-system. Tesla provides a globally recognizable Car product with excellent distribution and customer followings.. similar to Apple brand.

Apple will come into TV market albeit more like a combination of NetFlix/Device combo (or just through a home entertainment system/phone combo).. it's hard to figure out how exactly they will do it but they are studying the problem for several years now and I'm sure lots of smart brains are at it.

  • GSV Capital drops 3.7% post-earnings; Palantir, TrueCar shares sold [View news story]
It would be great to change course of management compensation with 90% with GSVC equity and only 10% in terms of cash.. this will align share holders with the management.

  • Yelp: A Deal Won't Happen [View article]
We once took the advt. from Yelp for several thousand. dollars only to cancel next year.. and following which all good feedback was hidden way bottom (one has to expand the reviews after scrolling down).. while suddenly new bad reviews started appearing.. all seemed like a gimmick and it was. We never renewed Yelp after that experience. I do see value in similar services and may be Yelp if & when bought by someone with right leadership & Vision of providing a trusted platform with genuine reviews and honest interactions with businesses and users.. Sales culture at Yelp needs to be rewritten with focus on long term goals rather than quarterly targets.

  • Yelp: 3 Questions Investors Must Ask [View article]
No way.. google will not touch Yelp.. Google & Facebook can generate more realistic reviews than some paid reviews by Yelp.. and the way Yelp hides good reviews by real users way under the "Filtered Reviews" hard to find and one has to work real hard to see these "good" reviews. I have first hand information on bullying tactics used by Yelp to sell annual dues running into over $1700/yr.. imagine how it hurts small businesses by these deceptive tactics used by Yelp marketing.. a good project was started on Kickstarter.. pls. review and also support if possible

  • DynaVax Technologies: The Small Cap Gem Focus Stock Of The Week [View article]
Thanks Brett J for your perspective on this spec. buy. I value your opinion. Do we have similar HepB vaccines in market now ? or DVAX is the pioneer to address this market. Also do you see potential for this to become a mandatory vaccine for all kids.. like so many other vaccinations we are required to give to kids.

  • The Idiocy Of Gilead's Undervaluation [View article]
I would like to believe that Gilead is a great buy based upon the past. The real question is how long can they maintain this asinine margins.. may be couple of yrs. max. Can someone write about their pipeline and the real chance of some being big blockbusters like those for HepC.
I haven't done due diligence yet on their pipeline. I'm not a long yet but inclined to be so. This seems like a buy but then I see a bunch of form-4's filed by Gilead C-level staff (may be a pre-arranged sale). Does anyone know if this is a pre-arranged sale and if so can one stop a pre-arranged sale if the price is a great bargain.. I'm not very sure of this form-4 selling rules. It will be good to know that.. I would liked to see some big buys from management at this time to support the conviction so many users here have.

Following are form-4 sales by C-level staff at Gilead.

  • InvenSense Q3 FY15 Earnings Preview [View article]
@Esekla - Thanks for your contributions. Street obviously thinks that earnings and guidance is going to stink as demonstrated by high short interest going into the quarterly results. Usually my experience tells me that GM improvements take several quarters especially if they are coming from changes internal to the company. Apple doesn't give any leeway to increase INVN GM. Add to that strong dollar and slowdown in China and Europe will all give lukewarm future at best. I think we need to wait for another quarter or two before real changes take place that could improve GM's. I'm eager to hear the real story after market close today.

  • LeapFrog Is Selling Below Its Liquidation Value [View article]
We need to know current cash levels and also the burn rate. Discount cash by 2 or 3 Qtrs before coming up with liquidation value as the company is currently not for sale. I do think leapfrog brand has some resonance with families and bigger companies can leverage the brand. I guess there will be restructuring charges (Inventory write downs, re-orgs etc.) as apparantly the current organizational structure is not scaling w.r.t costs. I may own this stock but need to do further analysis.

  • Molycorp's Convertible Notes Are Worth From 3 - 5 Cents On The Dollar [View article]
Can anyone tell me where to find the different bond tiers on Moly. I'm an equity investor (though not MCP) and I'm currently interested in taking a small position in Moly bonds.

  • Down The Rabbit Hole With NQ Mobile [View article]
With today's announcement NQ is making fools of themselves having contradicted their statements from recent NQ cc. This makes me think that Omar is just a figure head and he cannot control the actions of the chinese CEO / board decisions. I have never come across a company with so many twists and turns by management.. it's not worth ones time / money with investing in this company.

  • Xiaomi Raises $1 Billion, Threatens Apple's Ecosystem [View article]
I still favor Apple for 2015. Low/Mid end android eco-system players should be more worried about Xiaomi as their users are platform agnostic (cost/feature centric subscribers/users). I believe Chinese society values Brand as much as any society (probably more) and as their GDP grows, Brands such as Apple will continue to thrive (as long as innovation remains soul of Apple).

  • A Safer Way To Play The Ruble Crisis [View article]
India needs lots of gas as her economy is growing and stable central govt. provides necessary policy support. Some news channels have predicted they can do a direct pipeline deal with Russia to import much needed natural gas & petrolium. Putin is in India now.. so a deal may be announced this week.
