I'm into finance, economics, media, entertainment, geopolitics, the liberal arts, sharing, fun and knowing the basics of the physical & social worlds around me. Right now, becoming a true "media shop maven" is actually my goal. I most recently worked as a corporate financial analyst for an industry leading media and technology company for roughly three years (ending June 2010). The experience was good, but I found myself significantly more interested in studying the anatomy of the media industry, developments in media management, the opportunities and threats facing industry participants, the economic prospects of the overall industry, and the economic prospects of selected media company securites. I'm currently in Irapuato, Mexico where I am studying the topics mentioned above, preparing for the CFA and GMAT exams, learning Spanish, and helping my brother and his wife manage their 4 year old textile manufacturing business. I plan to return to graduate school in the fall of 2011 and earn an MBA with concentrations in media and finance. Upon graduation, I'd like to pursue a career in as a media analyst for a sell side research group or as an investment banking associate focusing on media M&A transactions in Latin America. Longer term, I'd like to help manage a fund (hedge, mutual or media focused PE), or become the director of business development for a medium to large media concern, or develop a media enterprise with some of the driven, intelligent and creative people I hope to meet in an sell side research or IB associate role. I have a bachelor’s degree in business administration with an emphasis in finance and security analysis from California State University Los Angeles. I worked as financial analyst for a leading media and technology company in California for roughly three years. Prior to the financial analyst post, I served a brief stint in the marketing department of a publicly traded movie studio. Prior to working in Hollywood, while completing my undergrad degree, I interned at a middle market investment bank (in the corporate finance group) and on the CDO trading desk of a top asset management firm. During my free time I enjoy hanging at low key lounges with friends, going to beaches, observing antiquity at museums, reading, working out, flag football, basketball, and watching the History, Science and Discovery channels.
