  • Rates tumble, but only marginal relief for REITs; utilities gain [View news story]
    Dang it!

I hold O and OHI and am hoping this nonsense lasts at least through the next Ex DIV and Record date.

  • EPA ruling comes too late, as power companies already spent billions [View news story]
This is the future of Gub'mnt regulatory bodies.

Both foreign and domestic economic interests influencing regulators who have no expertise or experience in the industries they seek to regulate. No concern or comprehension of the results of their actions.

I got out of ACI in 2011 expressly because I saw (realized?) that the EPA was compromised on this issue.

  • My 30 Stocks For 30 Years: P&G Q2'15 Buy [View article]
    Thanks Integrator.

"My strategy is quarterly accumulation of 30 stocks through a low-cost brokerage, with a few thousand dollars invested across all these stocks at a time."

Do you mean you by a bit of all 30 each quarter?

I ask because I have a brokerage 401K with 7 stocks (see Portfolio 3 on my bio) and I use each payroll deduction (2/ month) to by in one position. This is because I am charged $7.95. Hence 30 shares of AVA for eg; $930-ish cost me (or add) 0.265/ share. Buying a little of each position (eg; buy 8 shares of AVA and a couple shares of the others), would cost me nearly and extra $1.00/ share... per position purchased.

    best regards

  • Caterpillar: O&G Exposure And Additional Headwinds Means Further Downside For CAT [View article]
    Interesting Hayden.

Based on the article and target price range, I hope to enjoy enhanced share growth from my re-invested dividends for the next couple quarters.

    best regards.

  • Adding CVX To My Portfolio [View article]
Watching CVX to possibly add in my brokerage 401K after June 30.

I have been averaging down and then.... since $117. My take is that lower oil prices are key to help revive economies, now that ZIRP has proved superfluous.

I shall buy more .. now and then.. if it keeps dropping.

  • The Supreme Court And Coal [View article]
Thanks Paulo for an interesting article.

I would comment on the problem for investors...
that is that people in DC and state capitols, with no experience or expertise in the topic at hand attempt writing rules for entire industries.... with no comprehension of the consequences.

Investors should understand that foreign and domestic influences are both pushing for economic advantage. With the low quality of people in the various political ranks and government agencies, all industries will eventually become manipulated for others to gain at some point.

    buy and monitor closely!

  • Taper Tantrum II: Another Fixed-Income Buying Opportunity? [View article]
    Thanks George.

I am hoping all this excitement will last for the next quarter or more so that my CCC stocks will re-invest dividends at attractive prices.

... how us little folk acquire our wealth over time.

  • McDonald's Takes More Steps To Improve Its Menu And Franchisee Relations [View article]
Not sure where some of you go to MCDs but the ones I visit in Vermont, Upstate New York, California are top notch and very busy.

So after all the MCD hater's idiot articles of the last quarter or two...
(one actually cited a Consumer Reports survey of (wait for it) ... 500 people... to inform his negative investment thesis.

Now MCD is up about 5% in price and still paying a nice dividend.

If one does not comprehend the enormous contributions of a national scale food and infrastructure distribution network, maybe one should instead comment on "too cute kittens" or next year's "puppy bowl".

    oh yes, loooong MCD

  • Chevron - $120 Value Being Sold For $100, Sounds Like A Good Deal [View article]
    OK Jake,
    re-read his comment.

Damned if you do (own) Damned if you don't (own).

I agree with both of you, there is so much crap that invades the blogs of the serious investor that we must wade through every day.

Much of this blame lies at the feet of the stock "news" shows to create some false casino narrative between bulls and bears.

Hence, I look at fundamentals (Yahoo, Fidelity)... PE, Debt. Debt rating (eg; Moodys), earnings, profit, growth, dividend payout ratio dividend rowth.... all for 1 yr, 5 yrs.

After that it is all noise.

  • Chevron - $120 Value Being Sold For $100, Sounds Like A Good Deal [View article]
    Well said sir!

    This is indeed a conundrum.

My approach is that if one disses a stock they do not own, then their article is at first assumed tainted until further study.

There is a nefarious thing called "social index" in which trade bots weigh social commentary on a stock to inform the day's algorithms.

Another mindless parameter for the mindless to trade money betwixt each others pockets.

Sneeringly long on my stocks, Ha!
