John R. Runningen is a well known securities analyst and investment advisor having spent his entire career advising C-level executives on complex financial transactions nationwide. He has a clear understanding of the multitude of financial strategies and capital structures that can mitigate risk while achieving optimal returns. His track record includes more than 80 separate investment banking and M&A transactions with aggregate value of more than $18 billion. He has served on 12 corporate boards of both private and publicly traded companies. Since 2000, Runningen has been Managing Director of Runningen Associates, LLC, a middle market investment banking firm based in Atlanta. In 2011 he also became affiliated with Commend Capital LLC and Commenda Securities LLC, a registered Broker-Dealer. Previously, Runningen was Senior Vice President-Investor Relations at WebMD. He has been a partner in the venture capital firm, Cordova Ventures, was an SVP at The Robinson-Humphrey Company (division of Smith Barney), and has worked at Morgan Keegan, FOCUS, LLC, QualiCorp, and QualiCare, Inc. earlier in his career. Runningen received his BA from Luther College, cum laude, and his MBA from Tulane University, magna cum laude, where he majored in Finance and Marketing. He is a licensed securities principal and holds series 7, 24, 39 and 63 registrations with FINRA. He has two daughters and lives in Atlanta with his wife, Jane Calvert-Runningen.
