  • Embrace Corrections As Opportunities, Not Catastrophes  [View article]
Excellent article and I agree that corrections are a buying opportunity for DG investors. The one problem I see with your portfolio (as well as my own) right now, is you are almost fully invested, with only $3247 in cash to buy the dip.

  • My Transition To Dividend Growth Investing: A Look Back To Last Summer When It All Began  [View article]
Author: "...we steer clear of investments in the fast-food industry, the energy industry, and defense contractors."

Ruralist: " I like how you're taking your social-responsible values and are applying them to your portfolio."

I would also hope that the author is applying his social-responsible values to his life, that is, in not using any energy.

Since I am a realist (not a ruralist) and use gasoline, heat and a/c, plastics, etc. that come from oil & NG, just call me socially-irresponsible.

The first stocks I purchased in my roll-over IRA (2.5 years ago) were CVX & RDS. I've since added EPD and SDRL collecting growing dividends in the real world that runs on energy (oil & NG).

I've also added MCD since I like their fries, cooked in OIL.

The only "green" social-responsible stocks that I bought, I have taken a beating on, i.e. AT & EXC, two pin-wheel & sun-beam utility companies.

  • Mora County, N.M., a rural area where residents depend on wells for their water, is the first county in the U.S. to pass an ordinance banning fracking. More than a dozen cities in the eastern U.S. have passed such ordinances, and the movement is spreading west: Culver City, Calif., home to the largest U.S. urban oil field, is drafting anti-fracking regulations, and other cities are preparing ballot initiatives to outlaw the technique.  [View news story]
And they'll all be dependent on TX (& ND) for their gasoline.
Or will they stop using gasoline?

    NG was +0.03 on Fri.
Thanks for an informative article. I guess the price of NG will reach an equilibrium when both supply & demand stabilizes (& we get average winters).

LP Lover, the only thing I have read re Obama, was that he wanted to extend MLP tax status to alternate energy companies (not end them).

There's a reason why Baron Rothschild said "the time to buy is when there is blood in the streets."

I've read that the rest of his statement was: "...even if it's your own."

  • A Fallen Apple Equals A Gift To Investors Even If Sales And Margins Decline  [View article]
"Until today, I did not own a single Apple product. After today, if you count shares of Apple stock as owning its product, I am finally a proud owner."

Had a good laugh at that, and repeated it to my wife, who chuckled. Neither of us has ever owned an Apple product.

Bought my 1st shares today at 400.50 and if it drops below that tomorrow or Fri., I'll probably double up.

" Rhetorical question for anyone. Are you buying Apple today for the dividend yield or because you want the stock to get back to $600? "

I bought with the expectation (hope?) that next week they raise their dividend (substantially?).

  • Chesapeake Granite Wash Trust Is A Strong Buy, Part II  [View article]
Thanks S man. I revisited the site at your suggestion & discovered the CHKR K-1 Graphic, which did not come with my mailed package.
It shows exactly where to transfer 11F1 and 20T1. The written instructions omitted that detail.
But my HRB software is not transferring the numbers so I guess I'll use OVER-RIDE.
