  • Sense And Nonsense About Climate Change. What Do Investors Need To Know? [View article]
"Why would Seeking Alpha attract so many climate change skeptics? Surely, the answer is not that SA members are less intelligent or rational, or less well informed about a subject with important economic and financial implications."

Perhaps SA members are MORE intelligent or rational, or MORE informed?

They is nothing that climate change can't do: hot, cold, drought, floods, melted ice, more snow. Climate change cannot be falsified. Therefore it is not science.

Straight talk for a change, or a betrayal?  [View news story]
The Boomers created a $2.6 Trillion SURPLUS in the SS Fund for their retirement. Now that they're retiring, they're told it has been "borrowed" (plundered) and spent.

  • Revisiting Solazyme: Management's Take On Technology And Outlook [View article]
Opportunist, is your 2013 started hedge fund short SZYM?

You question Kevin's credibility and integrity? Have you met with Solazyme's management? Visited their HQ? Where's your credibility?

SZYM's "glaring issues" have been thoroughly covered in the past.
You have about a month to cover your short before the next CC.

    Thanks Kevin for your update.

  • Dividend Growth Investing: Five Thoughts for 2011 [View article]
    Thank you, both Davids.

I've recently converted a 401-K to a roll-over IRA and have been slowly (still waiting for the over-due correction) accumulating some dividend growth stocks (T, CVX, RDS-B, AEP, MO, and PM) on dips.

Your articles have been invaluable to me.

  • Marcellus Shale Estimates Slashed By 80% [View article]
"Skeptics note that the oil isn't even oil. It's a liquid that has to be cooked to become usable oil."

Cramer on Wed. reported that Bakken oil is some of best oil in the world (light sweet), and needs to be refined LESS. Perhaps you're thinking of tar/oil sands?

"The pollution, energy and money required to expand Bakken would be overwhelming."

Drilling in the Bakken formation is being expanded exponentially as I type. Confusing the Bakken again with tar/oil sands?

"Shale oil, by the way, is not shale gas. It's a liquid fuel."

    And....????

Long BEXP, KOG, AXAS, and PETEF (in the Bakken).

I recently read (but haven't verified), that Waste Management generates more energy than all the solar panels in the US.
They also recently added their 1000th NG truck to their fleet.

    Long WM.

  • 10 MLPs With Impressive Dividend Yields [View article]
"The company pays a dividend on a monthly basis, although it recently cut its dividend payout from 60 cents per share per month to 20 cents per share per month."

VNR did NOT cut its dividend. It changed from 60 cents per share per QUARTER to 20 cents per share per month.

  • Dividend Growth Is Important To Enjoy Retirement Years [View article]
king, did you even glance at this article?
Note how many times the word GROWTH, as in "dividend growth", shows up.

And if only a 20% correction occurs, call me a happy camper.
Been through worse, and it was bad, but you learn to hunker down, meaning don't panic sell. It's a buying opportunity. That's what those dividends are for. BTFD!

There's a reason why Baron Rothschild said "the time to buy is when there is blood in the streets."

I've read that the rest of his statement was: "...even if it's your own."

  • My Transition To Dividend Growth Investing: A Look Back To Last Summer When It All Began [View article]
Author: "...we steer clear of investments in the fast-food industry, the energy industry, and defense contractors."

Ruralist: " I like how you're taking your social-responsible values and are applying them to your portfolio."

I would also hope that the author is applying his social-responsible values to his life, that is, in not using any energy.

Since I am a realist (not a ruralist) and use gasoline, heat and a/c, plastics, etc. that come from oil & NG, just call me socially-irresponsible.

The first stocks I purchased in my roll-over IRA (2.5 years ago) were CVX & RDS. I've since added EPD and SDRL collecting growing dividends in the real world that runs on energy (oil & NG).

I've also added MCD since I like their fries, cooked in OIL.

The only "green" social-responsible stocks that I bought, I have taken a beating on, i.e. AT & EXC, two pin-wheel & sun-beam utility companies.
