Reason for Investing: Rolled over a moderately sized 401-K into Schwab IRA account 2 years ago & was getting a $1.98 / month in interest on it.
Current Portfolio Size: 34 stocks
With extensive reading, mainly on SA, I started buying (on the dips) a core of blue-chip dividend growers (T, MCD, MO, PM, ABT, PG, SO, WM, INTC, KRFT, CVX, and RDS), all names that I had heard of.
I then added MLP's (EPD, LINE, CLMT, VNR, UAN, QRE, etc) and other high yielders (SDRL, CHKR, etc.), all growing their dividends / ...More distributions and having capital growth potential.
I added some wild-catters with no dividends (BEXP, KOG, AXAS, and MHR) - "Rockin' the Bakken". I trend trade AXAS around a core holding and made a nice profit when STO bought BEXP.
I also added some spice; Lotto tickets and long shots SZYM, PETEF, and GLOG.
Lastly, I have a few losers, and learned a valuable lesson about averaging down, but still do it when adding to my core holdings.
