Being an unsophisticated dividend investor, what is the best approach? I am dollar cost averaging into dividend focused vehicles (ETFs/Mutual Funds) as I don't have time or interest for individual stocks. How does dollar cost averaging in this ugly environment impact dividend investing I wonder?

For the lazy dividend investor, how about the Alpine fund: ADVDX? I have a small position in it and figure they'll be as good or better than me at finding good dividend stocks. However, I'm always curious about others thoughts about this fund as it is not your traditional buy and hold forever approach.

I agree that this article is cherry picking data. It appears to be an advertisement for an enhanced MFI which I don't need.
The question is, how did MFI do compared to the overall market in 2008. I stopped investing in MFI stocks as 2008 fell apart, but I did kep a watch portfolio, adding the five most beat up small cap stocks each month. It was only down about 20% at the end of the year--compared to the market's 40+% negative returns.
However, my returns are based on adding money each month, so this is not a fair comparison either.
I just had to replace my old Nokia phone...after two years. I really liked it. So I go into Tmobile, and all the phones are cheap plastic except the Motorollas. I got the new thing Razor...really nice phone and the only kind that doesn't feel like a plastic toy.
Anti immigrant (racist) whack jobs never make any sense to me, especially from an economic perspective. But that's because their arguments are only foils for racism.
Immigrants, documented or not, bring a sorely needed work ethic (how many teenagers do you see out there willing to work hard? Some of course but most of them seem to want it handed to them), an infusion of fresh ideas and energy that over the next 100 years will help us reinvent ourselves (an American tradition), and finally...most of them are paying taxes to the US but won't ever collect Social Security--free money to the US tax payer.
So, next time you feel your racist leanings, at lest be honest about them and stop putting up the smoke screens of the goons down at the border doing vigilante violence.

Coronado says: "But if housing stops deteriorating, which seems likely, then that fact alone will provide potent support for GDP in the second half of 2007."
But why should realestate stop deteriorating? Adjustable resets have many months to peak. The bubble went higher than ever before on inflation adjusted basis. We're no where near back to the mean.
