  • Buffett's IBM Stake Surpasses 7% With Strong Upside To Fair Value [View article]
Momintn, good observation. I thought the same thing when I saw the volume on FinViz today. Wish I had free cash as I would be backing up the truck, but I am learning that an infant grows quickly and requires things like...diapers! Cheers, Moses

  • Ensco Plc: A Thorough Analysis [View article]
AP, love this name (ESV)! Bought with you right around $50, based on the nice div. Hope to raise enough cash to sop up some more shares at todays fantastic prices. Mr Market is 'sick' and we need to take advantage of his binge.

    Thanks for the write-up, Moses

  • National Oilwell Varco's Growth Story Continues [View article]
Its just too bad I didn't shrug off 'diworse-ification' and gone all-in on NOV at around $66. I should have put my entire ROTH in this name and then forgotten about it. I think it is that good a name...regards, Moses

  • Arch Coal: Next In Cycle [View article]
This is about patience. When do we expect a new president? (I believe maudie answered that...)

I will build another position in ACI when we skitter below $2, which is not impossible. All you need is one exogenous shock (ISIS/ISIL strike, or a random beheading that is found to be not-so-random) and this name along with many others will become even deeper values. I have been watching ACI book value...its still coming down.

Until <$2, I am OK watching from the sidelines. My BTU holdings are down significantly, but paper loss only, as I will hold until I make money.

Proceed with caution in this sector. If you do invest, prepare to sit tight for an extended period.

    Regards, Moses

  • I'm Cool With Passing On National Oilwell Varco If Need Be [View article]
I will add if we approach $75. My cost basis is much lower also, but this name is a buy anywhere in the low 70s.

Whats up Aces - You're conflicted on this one, eh? With intrinsic somewhere north of $100, unless we have a significant pull back, you might want to "get while the gettin's good."

    Thanks for the update, Moses

Disclosure: Long NOV and happy about it.

  • Peabody Energy: Does Improved EBITDA Guidance Mean Upside? [View article]
Mr. Market seems to be overreaching to the downside now, in my opinion. But he has a tendency to binge for longer than we mortals are able to stay solvent. Long BTU...and its beginning to leave a mark. Cheers, Moses

  • Is It The Right Time To Buy IBM Stock? [View article]
Pasi, you offer an interesting retort. Have you completed that value analysis with Accenture, Intel, other 'peers' of IBM? Are the results similar or divergent? Just curious.

"...other...than size, brand and growing dividend." That succinctly sums up why Berkshire Hathaway built a position in IBM. The other factor is longevity of holding.

    Cheers, Moses

  • Is It The Right Time To Buy IBM Stock? [View article]
HappyDev, I believe AG's article offers support for why IBM is a required holding in a long term equity portfolio. I do not see where he suggested that this name was a screaming buy at the moment. Re-read his opening paragraphs.

Full disclosure: I am long IBM and will grow my position in this name at or below $180 a share, as that is where I felt safe putting my money to work.

bilow, good idea. I am not capitulating. I will continue to build this position while we are on the skids...the covered dividend helps shape my thought process.

Blue, tell me about it. Do you own shares, or are you just monitoring the name?

I have been a fan of this name since....2008. Sheesh, what a mess it has been as an investment. I have not stayed in it the entire time, but my results have been lackluster. I too, feel that there is such value here, but the market has just not realized it. Maybe the next year or two will prove to be the turn we need...

Currently, I am back in FTEK, and back in - in a big way. If this foray fails to produce, I may be out for good. My goal is to grin and bear it for another 12-18 mos.

    Regards, Moses

    Thanks for the update, SS.

As I have mentioned before, I have done well trading in and out of ACI over the past couple years, but this trade is not for the feint of heart...I continue to stay on the sidelines for now.

My BTU holding - my long in this sector - is not pretty by any means, even though I found it to be the safest option at the time. Ugly may be a better descriptor at this juncture. Down right smelly. But I am not budging...I will continue to build this position (BTU) with couch cushion change.

    Regards, Moses
