I don't see how VZ could buy out VODs stake, or why $VOD would get rid of such a cash generating asset that 45% stake is.

    • DaLatin: VODs wanted to rid itself of VZ for ever, but, takes a monster to buy it. Who can ? Charlie Slim ?

    • Energysystems: I'd prefer if VOD was able to muscle that 55% stake from Verizon, but VZ isn't going to do that with their other legacy issues.

    • Energysystems: I wouldn't be suprised if VZ tries a merger, because they've got nothing without their wireless division.

    • DaLatin: They've been trying 2 unload for as long as I can remember. The legacy issues are prolly 1 of main reasons. They want to expand in 3rd worlds

    • Energysystems: Get some chumps like FTR/CTL/T to buy the wireline division and go mobile. I think Fios has been a big letdown as far as # of subscribers

    • Energysystems: I have the service, it is head and shoulders better than other available services, but I've heard they've cut down on roll out/installation

    • DaLatin: ANytime VZ sells they screw the buyers. I had those symbols for the divvys and moved on ! Before time I worked for NY Tel. Union destruction

    • Michael D.: Thus it makes more sense to merge.

    • DaLatin: VOD doesn't want legacy issues

    • Vinofilo: Merger was discussed on Bloomberg yesterday; Even at low rates to borrow, we are talking what 118 Billion to buy out VOD?
      3/6/13
    • Vinofilo: VZ's market value is somewhat identical to the buyout if I am not wrong.

    • Energysystems: Plus, VZ has a higher debt ratio than VOD, and VOD does not want to be saddled with dying landline biz.
      3/6/13
    • DaLatin: They will prolly spin it off.. be a 1.5 billion or more stand alone
      3/6/13
    • Energysystems: Yeah, it's crazy how discounted the rest of VOD is valued. People saying the 45% stake could go for 118B, VODs market cap is only 132B
