Excellent article thank you. I would note that the third paragraph from the bottom you state: "Exxon has cleverly manipulated the Russian bureaucracy" but I think its called "negotiated" rather than manipulated.

  • Some potentially nasty roadblocks could force Canadian oil sands producers to slash millions of barrels per day from current targets, CIBC's Andrew Potter says: “When plotted against planned pipeline capacity, it becomes abundantly clear that not all company planned oil sands projects can proceed... No company voluntarily gives up the quest for growth [but] some will have to." [View news story]
Regarding roadblocks and pipelines is TRP or ENB more favorable in this particular circumstance. Thanks.

Thanks for your optimistic view. We are currently converging on pessimism and you are diverging toward optimism. You are probably correct and will need to wait for others to catch up. Free markets are the key along with a sound currency and less debt. In a global economic system there are more variables requiring solvency, liquidity and political will to do what is correct with a longer term view and minimal corruption. There are many challenges that need to be addressed including more and more automation in all fields requiring less labor, demographics of aging populations and lower birth rates, inadequate educational system, and fiat money to name a few.
