    Deformable apparatus, sensors, manufacturing method, memory, voltage regulator, delay circuit, Some electronics patents that might be generally applicable as well.

    I didn't find them all. ;>)

    Actually you can deposit that single layer of atoms on almost any clean and smooth insulator. Silicon would be unsuitable since its a (semi)conductor. An interesting application is to have a layer of graphene on a flexible and stretchable material.

    I came to invest into Nokia because of the graphene patents and research. Not because of phones. So far I'm just waiting. Nokia is one of the top patent-holders in semiconductor graphene.

  • Can Nokia Rally Past $8.20? [View article]
    @dwdallam

    Nokia has a history of gigantic mistakes. The few most recent I'm thinking of are selling optical fiber technology and patents just before it became a cash cow, buying Navteq for an enormous overprice and dumping two good OS'es for Microsoft. (Add to that never understanding why an OS has an API. There's good reproach from the CEO of Angry Birds if you are interested)

    Having said that, I restate that I'm in Nokia because of the graphene patents. I have been for a while and I still believe this is absolutely awesome technology.

    I can't see why you believe Nokia's services could be NSA free. No way in a million years will NSA leave Nokia alone.

    Risto Siilasmaa is the temporary CEO now. Stephen Elop stepped down to EVP of Devices & Services. Risto Siilasmaa is officially said to be a temporary CEO. Most probably the new one will be announced at the general shareholders meeting. It was hinted at the extraordinary shareholders meeting that after there months a new CEO and strategy will be disclosed. That points in the calendar at the general shareholders meeting.

    No they are not renewable! However new patents are often based on old patents. Some minor refinement is patented and in practice it's hard to avoid the new patent and apply only the design in the old. It's kind of a legal trick and kind of proof that you have continued the research.

    Frankly, I would love that. I have 50% of my $NOK in warrants. Yes, I know that's maybe too much. But 10$ would play out handsomely for me!

    We are waiting for Nokia to release their new strategy and at that time we will know the name of the new CEO as well. (The current CEO is declared to be temporary!) This event is bound to have a lot of investors re-evaluate Nokia.

    My own suspicion is that something will emerge from Advanced Technologies. The dormant patents will either be monetized trough licensing or even that new manufacturing will begin. As a joint venture maybe. I am thrilled by the quality of Nokia's graphene patents. In one way or the other they will generate income at some point. Hopefully not very far into the future.

    As for why Nokia is down now I think it's the India tax problem. That will sort itself out.
