  • Take Advantage of Weakness in Metals and Mining [View article]
You are early in metals, this sell off will affect all world markets including those buying gold and silver.

The demand for gold in the USA looks to be declining for a time, but with fall seasonality I hope the global buying will occur including the US market.

  • Exploring Gold Miner Stocks: Mid-Year 2009 Analysis  [View article]
What can you say when you hold nothing? I feel like I am discussing child rearing with a priest.

Are you saying there is nothing to the inflation play, the miners are worn out, and that the CB can hold PMs down indefinitely? Or, are you just spinning?

We need fear and a lack of faith in the dollar to make this market move.It looks like it is not going to happen even in the seasonal period. Pray for Obama to spend again and I think he might.

  • August Buying Time for Gold [View article]
This is like diving into empty swimming pools: the plan is good, but the results hurt like hell. I was recently bashed by SLW for no good reason, just absolution time I guess.

I suspect that demand for PM is like virtue, everyone has it, but no one uses it much. I always have some silver just for old times sake, but not to make money, mostly as a marker to show I am still gullible.

Sign me:" Want to believe but too bloody to move".

  • Gold Manipulation Redux [View article]
I know that I feel better.

But there is a will if not the way to do some manipulation. Just the existence of large positions are an inhibition to other traders (shear position sizes), but if you say there could be commercial motives for holding the positions I suppose we are just sore losers. Right?

  • Who's Benefiting from Soaring Gold Prices, and Why? [View article]
Juniors are "juniors" not just for their size and want of a record of performance, but also for their lack of attractiveness as investments. No investment is less transparent or more exploited than gold mining. I think that there is a 70/30 down side risk on every junior. Factor that into your investing before taking a position. ABX starts to look attractive.

  • Ian McAvity on the Economy and Gold [View article]
It seems hopeless in many respects, particularly if the institutions remain the same. My only question is, how will things change after the cleansing by fire?

Are we really talking about getting rid of the Fed and moving to a hard currency and a flat tax regime? The ratio of PM to the unit would be variable, but it would tend to a global currency convention that might be more stable for trade. I am talking about a revolution in monetary and fiscal policy. That might make the pain more bearable.
