I worked for the federal government for some years as a Ph.D. economist, then became a venture capital partner. We invest in private capital deals, some market items in fixed income and in the last two years have been partial to cash. My views are conservative on financial matters and dislike government intervention as rule because it is typically worse than the errors and propensities of private managers who are often less than honorable.
