    Shovelling a few more billion into GMAC following a 50% increase in loan loss reserves!!! Another $2 billion for "cash for clunkers" - where GM's cars are not in the top tier. Are there any accountability measures for the Government Motors performance? How deep will the UAW pay-off go?

    About 2/3 of the financial industry political contributions currently go to Democrats. Not a lot of ideology there. They understand how the game is played.

    Lots of populist anger. I particularly enjoyed the complaints about bankers spending eminating from last week's Democrat retreat in Williamsburg.

    The selection of the new Treasury Secretary will be momentous as an indicator. The short term problem is getting the financial system going, and minimizing the pending recession; however, the next problem will be the total lack of financial discipline (by the Bush administration, the congress, and the Obama campaign pledges.) Taxes will come in the form of inflation.
