  • If You Bought NQ Mobile Over $9.80, You Could Get Hosed  [View article]
QTR any news which comes out, good or bad, about NQ, you turn them bad. There is huge bias in all your arguments and conclusions. Anyhow, we all know it here, i am not saying anything new. I can tell you and all other shorts one thing: you are playing a very risky game here - much more risky than longs do. 2 weeks back the wind was blowing to your direction - now it's against you. After 20F comes out clean, and the chances are extremely high it will be, this stock will double within couple of days. So watch out. This is not that i want you to suffer a loss!!! I don't wish it to anyone. But there is something in your tone which is destructive, your ALWAYS TURNING AROUND THE FACTS AND TRUTH. There is huge lack of objectivity in your articles. And you do this with intention. This is the wrong part about you and many other shorts like MW.

  • NQ Mobile -26% after announcing annual report delayed  [View news story]
Tell me, i was amazed to see hedge and investments funds one after each other taking positions in NQ. Why on earth would any one do that without due diligence??? My impression is that on a big scale they are clean. There are some little issues here and there which they are trying to clean up. I don't believe there is anything substantial. They even claimed that q4, 2013 numbers are not subject to change, which means that the old numbers won't be much affected either, aka number of customers, revenues, etc.

  • NQ Mobile -26% after announcing annual report delayed  [View news story]
I don't get one thing. If there are any issues with the results of the investigation, how could company release such a statement? why no independent auditor made and contra coment? And this was just 2 weeks ago.

"The Investigation Team has thus far found no evidence that the Company engaged in the fraudulent conduct that was alleged by Muddy Waters. It has also discussed its work and the evidence it has obtained with the Company’s independent auditor. The independent auditor is considering that information as part of its procedures in connection with its audit of the Company’s financial statements, and may request that the Company provide additional information or that the Investigation Team undertake additional work."

  • Research Report: What Baseball Can Teach Us About NQ Mobile  [View article]

    Hi Robert,

Impressive research!!! I don’t know if the time spent on this research was (or will be) worth the effort? Unless you shorting this stock big time (I am sure you are:).

Anyways, I don't get one thing. Please explain me this. If this company is fraud, why did:
    1. Altimeter Capital increased its holdings to 6.1 percent of shares outstanding from 1.5 percent, becoming the largest shareholder in NQ, according to a regulatory filing on Nov. 13.

    2. Or Jim Oberweis, president of Oberweis Asset Management, said in a Nov. 18 interview that his company doubled its holding to 1.8 million shares of NQ Mobile last month, after conducting its own due diligence.

    Read here:

Or many others... if I go on listing them, will be here for another 10 minutes or so.

Are all these investors, banks, companies blind?

I believe not!!!!! I trust their merit and research much more, then yours!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Microsoft (MSFT +1.7%) roundup: 1) Telefonica (TEF) and Microsoft plan an "enhanced marketing effort" to promote Windows Phone in the U.K., Germany, Spain, Mexico, Brazil, and Chile. The campaign, which should please Nokia (NOK), is Telefonica's latest attempt to become less dependent on iOS/Android, and thus gain more leverage for cutting subsidies. 2) Sprint (S) has launched its first Windows Phones: Samsung's 4.8" Ativ S Neo, and HTC's 4.3" 8XT. They arrive amidst reports HTC is prepping a WP8 version of its popular One phone. 3) Morgan Stanley thinks Microsoft's rumored restructuring would be "received favorably" by investors, and would "better address the integration among groups of products."  [View news story]
Agree with with dwd. People are getting bored with owning the same things for a long time... it's in human nature to seek for changes and try new things. This is why Nokia / WP has a good chance. And such marketing efforts is indeed what Nokia needs. Nok/MSFT should only work on meaningfully expanding app store and making the WP fit for corporate usage (e.g. solving the VPN issue and alike). Of course not to forget to remind Nok to solve its supply issues.

I am confident that after a year or two WP will have much stronger position in the smartphone market.

  • American Capital Agency Corp.'s Dividend Range Scenarios For Q2 2013  [View article]
Good day Scott, appreciate your explanations!!! I am learning quite some things from you:)

I have another question: is there a possibility that AGNC can go bankrupt? The US government is backing them up right. What does this mean in reality / for investors?

    Thanks in advance!!!

  • American Capital Agency Corp.'s Dividend Range Scenarios For Q2 2013  [View article]
    Hi Scott,

    Thanks for the links.

For me it was and sill is difficult to understand AGNC revenue model... how they make money? And what market factors / conditions influence their business? You mentioned that rising interest rates is one of the main factors, but I still don't have a clue why?

I am from Europe and here mREIT sector is non existant... at least I haven't heard about any organisation so far... and I have been in business for many years now.

  • American Capital Agency Corp.'s Dividend Range Scenarios For Q2 2013  [View article]
Very thorough article Scott! Many thanks for it!!! I am new in these waters and needed some good info about AGNC for my decision making process. And your article couldn't have done any better. Initially I was thinking that AGNC hit the bottom, but I see I was wrong. After decreasing the dividend, which is inevitable by studying all your (and others') arguments, the stock price will slide down even further into $22-23 levels, which will be an ideal point of entry then:)

  • The 8 most popular Nokia (NOK) Lumia devices account for nearly 3/4 of all Windows Phones (MSFT) in use worldwide, according to usage stats from Windows Phone ad network AdDuplex. The Lumia 920 and 800 are each estimated to account for 14% of WP devices in operation, the Lumia 710 13%, and the Lumia 610 11%. HTC's 8X and 8X are seen accounting for 4% apiece. Kantar Comtech's stats indicate Windows Phone is gradually gaining share in the U.S. and Western Europe, albeit from low levels.  [View news story]
@Mike - I also thought that Helsinki is dictating the US price, but recently came across to a research paper saying that it's vice versa. The argument is that in US investors are more informed/sophisticated hence are better decision makers/ influencers of the NOK's share price.

While i agree with the macro news thesis, i have difficulties in understanding why the high demand for the NOK shares is not forcing the price go up? Yesterday the buy/sell ration was 2/1. Even this simple law of economics / demand and supply / seems not to work.

  • Short Interest For Nokia Is At An All-Time High  [View article]
Very interesting information - thanks for sharing it!

By the way Nokia just won another patent case - this time against HTC on battery saving technology:

all in all Nokia brought a suite of 40 patents against HTC in Germany - if they even win 30% of it, would mean a lot of $$$$ in royalties...

this company is here to stay - it's just a matter of time to get part of its former glory back.

  • Velti Plc Management Discusses Q4 2012 Results - Earnings Call Transcript  [View article]
Really tough situation for investors. I was amazed to see that there are still people buying the shares of Velti at 2.25 - 2.30 level. Very poor management - I wonder how they / Moukas managed to bring the company this far. I hear only talks /big words no substance / brains.
Buyout can happen though. mobile ad/marketing industry is growing rapidly and Velti seems to have an interesting solution (I think it's mor than simple SMS business - SMS is just part of it)
