I would tell investors/traders to just buy insurance against their holdings. Depending on what your investments are, you can either go long/short on that sector's ETF or purchase puts/calls. Moreover, if your bullish and believe their is upside, you can use the coverd call writing strategy to earn some income on your holdings.

Three Good Reasons to Mistrust Thursday's Rally (SPY)

The percent of stocks on the New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq composite index that are trading at or below their 200-day moving averages are closing in on levels not seen since the beginning of the war in Iraq and after the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

More good news is expected on the earnings front. Analysts surveyed by Thomson Financial are now estimating that earnings growth in the second quarter will come in at 11.9 percent for companies in the S&P 500. That's up from 10.9 percent at the start of the quarter.
