  • Stocks More Overvalued Than At 10 Of Last 18 Market Peaks [View article]
You need to look at more than one chart and events to form any kind of bias about the market.
    Here are mine.

    1. SP500 is at a 50% Fib retrace level from February lows.
    2. NASDAQ is at important critical 4000 psychological number and Double Bottom.
    3. Russell 2000 (IWM) is coming into 200 MA
    4. $VIX although the VIX closed up +1.14 Friday there was no follow through. intraday high was 17.88 and closed at 17.08 very weak close.
    5. SP500 is in Oversold Territory.
    6. Every website and traders are very pessimistic about the market right now.

Conclusion: look for a bounce SP500 to reach 1845-1850 then resume down.

  • The March report on retail sales indicates a measurable impact was felt by retailers from the round of cooler weather seen in the U.S. during the month right along with broader macroeconomic factors. Department store (KSS, JWN, DDS, SKS, SHLD) and home garden (HD, LOW) sales tipped to the weaker side while online sales showed some strength. [View news story]
Try this on for size stupid!

Higher taxes and Slow to NO job creation are taking a bite out of the economy and hurting Retailers.

  • President Obama will lay out yet another plan for trying to spark some life back into the economy when he gives his State of the Union address on Tuesday. The program includes investments in infrastructure, manufacturing, clean energy and education. But as with countless proposals in the past, any new spending plans are likely to hit strong opposition from Republicans, who would probably prefer to hear about cuts and deficit reduction. [View news story]

  • Stocks haven't exactly been following oil's lead, but you can still feel crude's impact in two key sectors - energy and consumer discretionary - and that means you may want to target stocks like Dollar General (DG) and AutoZone (AZO) as well as ETFs like XLY and VCR.  [View news story]
Brad’s Market outlook for July 9th

Regardless of the news, the market has a good chance of opening higher Monday. The sell off was NOT as bad as news commentators portray it to be. The US dollar failed Friday to break through 23 which is at first resistance level.

The SP500 needs to get back to 1360 then it will have solid support at 1343 level and the potential to move back up to 1370, which is right at resistance.

Nazdaq has support at 2909 and if it can hold above above 2921 it will have solid support at 2909 and the potential to reach 2975 right at resistance.

The Dow needs to stay above 12704 then it has solid support at 12660 with the strong potential to move to 12919 resistance which is 150 point gain.

I can't wait to sell my June calls tomorrow!

This is what I posted in facebook today before the close:

Apple is reporting its Q2 earnings after the market closes today. Everybody is shorting and selling apple due to the fact that Verizon and ATT&T new subscribers for the Iphone wasn’t quite as high as last month but still not bad in my opinion.

Right now APPLE (aapl) is down $15 and busted through the 50 MA because most believe apple will miss on tonites earnings. What they do not realize is Apple is an international company and what they loss in the USA can easily be compensated for in 22 other countries that Apple also does business in including China which has a 8% GDP for this year.

People around the world will gladly stand in line for hours to get the latest Apple product.s. I think the majority is wrong and that is why I am long on APPLE with June Calls.

and this is what I bought today

  • Hawkish Minneapolis Fed president Kocherlakota conditionally throws his support behind QE3. Expecting the "disinflationary pressures of 2010" to reappear, he says, "In that eventuality, increasing policy accommodation might well be appropriate."  [View news story]
None of the QEs worked. They were all failures! It would be fiscally irresponsible to do it again.
