  • Hewlett-Packard's Focus On Tablet Market And Restructuring Efforts Make It A Buy [View article]
HP is trying to take IBM's market and Dell is going that way too. They need a Steve Jobs to turn around that company and bring back their innovativeness. HP's board seems to have the hangup for women CEOs and the last one bought the Compaq PC business which was a very poor decision in a failing PC market. Even MicroSoft the big hancho had a first ever loss this quarter bec PCs are going by the wayside. If they bet on their turnaround with tablets that is wishfull thinking. There are a lot of offshore houses like Samsung who will drive it down to the commodity level. Meg has to pull a lot of rabbits to make a turnaround of HP. Maybe they should merge with Apple or IBM?

  • ATP Oil & Gas (ATPG +49.4%) shares soar into the close; the only news on the mid-size company is a report it filed suit against the U.S. government over the 2010 drilling halt in the Gulf of Mexico. ATPG alleges the moratorium cost it more than $68M. Shares had plunged 75% YTD through yesterday.  [View news story]
Believe it or not - Drilling activity in USA and permits have been the most during the Obama admin even greater than Georg Bush. So don't throw stones without checking facts!

  • Apple's (AAPL) deal with Leap Wireless (LEAP) to sell the iPhone to prepaid users could augur a broader push to offer the device with minimal subsidies (if any) in exchange for cheaper service plans, BTIG speculates. Consumers can buy unsubsidized iPhones for use on AT&T and Verizon's networks, but have to sign up for the same service plans as those buying subsidized devices. Boost Mobile will reportedly begin selling the iPhone to prepaid subs in September. (earlier)  [View news story]
Hey guys! Relax. The prepaid market is going to be the biggest market for cell phone providers. It is cash and carry. No payables nothing. Look at countries in Asia-It is all prepaid. No contracts. So this is a good thing for Apple.

There are no jobs in this country. everything is outsourced. The only jobs we have is the ones in min wage like Mcdonalds. This country has had a structural change. The sooner you accept it, the better you will be. There are no jobs in this country. Everything is going overseas.

  • Get On Board The Iron Ore Train [View article]
we saw the whole autralian growth when the chinese started their natural resources buying binge. Like all the copper that were bought by the chinese is lying in some warehouses waiting to be used. We do not know how much of the iron ore they bought is lying in warehouses? What they did was-to buy in anticipation of the crunch for metals and minerals and that strategy went kaput when the world economy started collapsing. Except in gold. So when chinese buying (not growth) stops as it has started to, then our friends in down-under will be in big trouble. They have bet all their horses on the likes of BHP and Rio Tinto exporting and it is not going to happen. So the growth for the iron ore business will start declining in 2012 for 2/3 years till worldwide production equals the market demand. This is my humble opinion.

  • Enhanced Income Strategy For Microsoft [View article]
MFST does not have anything to grow. They have tried everything and have failed bec they do not have any original ideas. So in a downturn industry like PC which will be obsolete in another 5 years, they will have nothing. They made their fortune copying the windows concept from apple. It is a good candidate for a short by end of 2012. I would not bet my money on it.

  • Six Ways to Trade Foreign Currencies [View article]
From the article, it appears the only ETF you are recommending is the DBV which does the carry on trade. currencies move very slowly with small incremental changes. So will a ETF capture these movements effectively?

  • Absurd Housing Bailout Proposals [View article]
There is too much unnecessary hoopla about the subprime mortage crisis. Easy proposal to solve this is for the banks to extend the reset dates on the ARMs to another 5 years. This will give the homeowners time to readjust to reality and hopefully the real estate markets will stabilize by then. Banks always make a ton of money on everything. They made a ton on Equity loans last five to seven years. So they can eat this small difference instead of the taxpayers footing the bill again through fancy Fed/ Bush or Obama schemes to help out the banks!

  • Negative Amortization and Interest Only: The Next Mortgage Bomb? [View article]
You are making it very simplistic. Does it not take about approx 10years for NegAm to catch with the value of the house including appreciation? if there is any that is?
so the time frame for 2006 negam loans would be 2016 when who knows what will be the price of Real Estate????
