They had to stock all these carriers and countries with the device before launch. I don't think that Thor would have had anything less then 500,000 devices ready in storage on January 25th.

Do you know why the Z10 will sell well? It's because it's a great phone, and word of mouth will be the driving factor.
Go to 10 different carriers, and ask them which phone is a good phone to get. Based on what you are told, that is a pretty good indication of how well they will sell.
