Didn't several U.S. presidents get killed off in "24 Hours"?

Where's your sense of humor? The movie is an action comedy. Get it? It's fiction. It's supposed to be funny and probably is, based on the writer and co-directors. If it were a movie about killing a U.S. president, even a drama, you'd never hear a peep.

  • JetBlue's Customer-Centric Moves And Other Strategies Can Push It Higher [View article]
I am left wondering if Ayush Singh has ever read "1984?" He titled his article as if trying to endear himself to George Orwell. An airline that endeared itself to its loyal passengers with more legroom and no baggage fee decides to fire its CEO, decrease its seat comfort, take away its free checked bag, and Ayush calls this customer-centric! Reminds me of the USA Patriot Act - take away the constitutional rights of every American and then tell them they're patriots.

  • UTC chief exec departs with $172M [View news story]
Not so fast, Bajista. No one outside the Board knows what happened. The company has done well and the spokesman said it's unrelated to financial performance. He could be ill, or he could be at the center of a to-be-announced scandal.

  • Unisys names interim chairman and CEO [View news story]
Position to fill: CEO. Excellent opportunity to take over management of a moribund company. Qualifications: must be able to creatively manage a failed IT service company in a highly competitive, low-margin industry. Ability to make crushing pension obligations disappear a plus. Equal opportunity employer: zombies encouraged to apply.

  • Baggage fees and other changes coming to JetBlue [View news story]
Hire a new CEO who adds a baggage fee, takes away the good will, they could have just increased their fares and kept the good will, or as aadamiani said, they could keep the present fares, keep the free bag, and their profit would still go up with cheap fuel. Welcome LUV to the new Reptile Economy, and while you're at it, change your symbol to GRED.

  • Xerox: Strong Cash Flow, Large Buybacks, Fair Value [View article]
Like GE, XRX share price is significantly lower than pre-2008 so obviously there are a lot of disappointed investors out there. Xerox managed to get their share price up to $20 briefly when they announced they were diversifying into IT. But if you're a printer/copier manufacturer why diversify into IT? What's the connection? And why diversify into a low margin/highly competitive industry? Why would the world's leading copier manufacturer with all its R&D power sit on its hands while 3D printing explodes?

  • Zoetis could be fallback option for Valeant [View news story]
For Pfizer investors that were offered shares of Zoetis when it was spun off and accepted the offer, the last month has been a bonanza and it looks like the good times may keep rolling. Investors that didn't take advantage of the stock swap and held onto their Pfizer shares haven't seen any movement. In my opinion, Pfizer senior management is quite competent and the stagnant stock price is temporary, and it's a great consolation to be getting a great yield in the meantime.

  • Xerox offers light 2015 guidance, adds $1.5B to buyback [View news story]
Why are shares up on lowered guidance? What does IT outsourcing have to do with printers and copiers? I guess you can tell the IT companies you acquire that they can only buy Xerox printers and copiers but that won't make up for a industry-wide trend of decreasing sales.

  • Unisys blasts off on Q3 beat, margin strength, mainframe growth [View news story]
Wonder how often a CEO or BOD announces a CEO exit 16 days before a big earnings beat? Something's going on here, I just don't know what it is.

  • General Electric: Bears Proved Wrong Again [View article]
Depends on your perspective, Hemmer. If you see UTX as a GE peer, then you see UTX at $40 during those high-flying days, then reaching $120 and now settling back to $100. Happy with $25/share moving slow and up the middle? I'd sooner watch paint dry.

  • General Electric: Bears Proved Wrong Again [View article]
True statement except GE's only hope is to split off their divisions - the company today is too big to succeed. They can leave one core division still named GE and then change the logo to reflect modern times. Always fun to hear GE bulls - the one thing they don't see is a $60 stock mired in the mid-20s.

  • Exciting Times For Alcoa [View article]
Program trading is based on computer algorithms, not on actual human beings saying, wow, look at those earnings and revenue. For investors who have chips saved on the side, that's opportunity.
