  • Goodrich Petroleum: Cracking The Code Of Tuscaloosa Marine Shale  [View article]
...yes only time will tell, indeed, but GDP reported last Monday about their Tangipahoa Parish well the Blades 33H-1 was drilled and completed under budget. The well is producing an average 1,250 barrels of oil and 115,000 cubic feet of natural gas per day.

Mr. Barrel, an expert on the Tuscaloosa shale and managing partner of Amelia Resources, expects more improvement and cost reduction as GDP further refines its approach...Adding this represents a huge advantage because it cost about $100,000 a day for a drilling rig...cutting 8 days off drilling represents about $800,000 in savings.

...yes their debt..In May of last year, GDP bought 300,000 of acreage from DVN...the reason was given then for their purchasing in the TMS...we believe
we have, 'CRACKED THE CODE OF THE TMS !!!' ...yes debt, but not to worry, in my crystal ball: the O/G , Services Co.'s, and (yes) Stockholders are in line!!!! Can you say partnership?

...agree clay, sand, (s/f) water and more clay a very bad formations. A good example: blackjack (mud) and bayou gumbo (mud) which act like quicksand... food for thought...smaller chocks at the well head might be the answer to help in the equation of longer live ...long/adding jp

  • Halcon Resources: Strong Read-Across From Goodrich's TMS Result  [View article]
Tangipahoa Parish well shows oil, gas, and the well was drilled and completed under budget. GDP reported Monday that its Blades33H-1 well is produced an average of 1,250 barrels of oil and 115,000 cubic feet of natural gas per day. The well is Goodrich's latest in the Tuscaloosa Marine Shale, an oil rich formation that stretches from Texas across the middle of Louisiana into Mississippi.

"Probably the most important well to date based on several different criteria. So it's good news," said Kirk Barrell, an expert on the Tuscaloosa shale and managing partner of Amelia Resources.

The well was drilled under budget and more quickly than previous wells. Barrell expects more improvement and cost reductions as Goodrich further refines its approach.

Initial rate of production from the Blades well had the third-highest initial rate overall, but the will's horizontal section is only 5,100 feet long.

Production per 1,000 feet of lateral is second only to the Anderson 17H-2, whose initial production was the equivalent of 1,540 barrels of oil per day.

The well location is about 48 miles southeast from one of the highest-producing wells in the Tuscaloosa, the Crosby12H-1 Well in Wilkinson County, Miss. During the first 30 days of production, the Crosby well averaged the equivalent of 1,337 barrels of oil per day.

The Blades' well lies in the eastern section off the formation. "If you're that far east seeing those results, that really makes you encouraged for other core areas of the play," Barrell said.

Barrel also added this represents a huge advance because it costs about $100,000 a day for a drilling rig. Cutting eight days off the drilling time represents about $800,000 in savings.

The C. H. Lewis' horizontal section of the will is about 6,000 feet long according to Goodrich. the company plans to begin fracking the well by the end of April Goodrich also is drilling the Nunnery 12-1H-1 in Amite County, the Beech Grove 94H-1 well in East Feliciana Parish and the SLC Inc. 81H-1 well in West Feliciana Parish.

Goodrich is one of the largest players in the formation, with more than 300,000 acres under lease and plans to spend $300 million drilling well there in 2014. They acquired the vast majority of that acreage from Devon Energy in August.

    Yes, I'm long. jp

  • Peyto Exploration: A Winning Stock For Growing Oil Sands Diluent Demand  [View article]
Condensate is the top of the line, sort of speak, of gas wells. Alone with its high flash point one has to be very careful handling this clear liquid. In my early days in the oil patch, one could even run their older tractor and car by mixing it with gasoline. Here in La., more mishaps occurred by statistic electricity to those with little or no experiences working, as gauger, around these high pressure gas well and storage tanks. After saying that, one can see that the margin for profit will be very lucrative for this condensate. $$$$$$$ Big Money! Good read, Michael. p.s. Crawfish are fat and delicous, Nola's fast balls are in the ninety...go LSU. jp

Very good read and comments, I'm long and will remain. I also got in early and will be adding....( do want when others are fearful ). Some are saying that management are not looking out for their shareholders; but, look closely and one can see that the opposite is true. This article hits the nail on the head and I think the future will be very bright for both, DDD and their holders. Thanks AR and SA. jp
